Mission: Why This Role Exists

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Card Rails team, you will focus on direct bank integrations via ISO 8583 and similar - developing PCI-compliant solutions and designing, building, testing and deploying our payment switch.

You will collaborate closely with the Payments Core and Tokenization teams to implement new features, ensuring a world-class experience for our merchants and their customers.

Outcomes

Successfully complete development tasks for an ongoing acquiring bank integration within 6 months

• Design, build, and integrate a new feature into an existing bank integration.


• Ensure secure, scalable, and PCI-compliant processing.

Effective Troubleshooting and Debugging of Acquirer Integration issues

• Independently diagnose and propose solutions for issues and incidents, leveraging logs, monitoring, and code analysis.
  

Competencies: What You Bring

Technical Expertise:

• 7+ years of experience in cloud-based backend engineering.


• Strong experience with Java, ideally Spring Boot.


• Deep understanding of card payments and ISO8583.


• AWS expertise (Lambda, API Gateway, Serverless).


• Experience in PCI DSS-compliant development and securing payment data.


• Strong database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB).


• Bonus - Knowledge of ISO20022


• Bonus - HSM integration development, Thales International command set.

Problem-Solving & Ownership:

• Ability to design elegant, scalable solutions for acquiring bank integrations.


• Takes initiative, owns projects end-to-end, and thrives in a fast-paced, high-scale environment.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Works well in a fully remote team, with strong written and verbal communication skills.


• Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, operations, and external partners.
