Software Engineer

Dealstack is on a mission to power private equity. Today, there is no purpose-built tech in place to power the world of private equity. Dealmaking is manual, chaotic and backward. Dealstack is a SaaS platform that puts an end to these outdated practices, setting a new collaboration standard in the industry. Dealstack is built by PE, for PE. Founded by experienced professionals from within the industry, our products sit at the intersection of SaaS, fintech and legaltech.  
 
Dealstack has an ambitious, multi-product roadmap. The first product went live in 2023. It allows private equity professionals to easily onboard and maintain investment programmes. Following strong commercial traction from leading industry players, we are looking for an ambitious individual, with proven software engineering skills and experience working for a high growth software company. The role presents an exciting opportunity to build and deliver new innovation to a fast-moving industry.

• 2+ years of commercial experience as a software engineer both on FE & BE
• Interested in working in a small and elite team
• Flexible working set up with the expectation of coming into the London office 2 days per week (during the onboarding 3 days per week)
• We believe in the power of collaborating from the same location so possible and likely need for travel (Poland, Krakow) few times a year
• Interested in fintech and SaaS, ideally private equity
• Opinionated and passionate. We like people who have strong opinions about their work

• You will be joining the development team with experienced people helping to choose the best business-tech solution providing unique experience to ship new features both on FE and BE
• You will be shipping new features while maintaining high standards in code quality
• You will work in a small team where we focus on quality over quantity and excellence over speed
• You will have a voice to work with other senior developers on technical choices. We run a meritocracy where all can be heard and the best ideas win out

• Working with "Agile" methodology but not SCRUM. We believe that tools are to help us rather than blindly follow them
• Having time to plan and think before actual implementation. We believe to deliver proper software it is not only coding but also thinking how to do so
• Building modern UI based of components using attractive tools and libraries in React and working on BE using Node.js and Nest.js
• Architecting FE with modern and variety BE communication including classic API, tRPC, GraphQL, WebSocket
• Working with team where there is a healthy balance between speed & perfect quality. Stability is our primary goal but also in terms of maintainability

• You possess solid knowledge of Node.js, React.js – these are our main and only FE& BE frameworks
• TypeScript - we are using TypeScript at sophisticated level
• Ability to use Figma from developer perspective
• Understanding what state management is (available solutions for React.js)
• Past experience with PostgreSQL, Jest and Playwright preferred
• DevOps experience valued
• Experience or at least understanding of work at the product-based company
• Having engineer mindset, ability to understand problems without going too deep in terms of low level
• Comfortable with working in a team environment. e.g Pair programming
• Very strong communication, influencing and presentation skills, with a deep sense of personal excellence and accountability
• International experience and knowledge; cultural sensitivity and ability to work across multiple markets / cultures
• Positive, mature approach to problem solving
• High EQ and interpersonal skills, with an ability to read and respond to complex and challenging situations
• Team player with a desire and ability to function in a fun, flexible, changing environment
