Job Description - Sous Chef

Sous Chef

Location: Northern Cape

Property Type: Luxury Private Game Reserve

Salary: Negotiable DOE | Live-in

Kendrick Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a luxury private game reserve in the Northern Cape for an experienced Sous Chef. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled culinary professional to support the Head Chef in delivering exceptional dining experiences and maintaining the highest kitchen standards in a luxury bush environment.

Key Responsibilities

â¢ Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations

â¢ Prepare and present high-quality meals in line with lodge standards

â¢ Ensure consistency in food quality, taste, and presentation

â¢ Maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards at all times

â¢ Oversee stock control, ordering, and minimise wastage

â¢ Assist with menu planning and creative input for new dishes

â¢ Supervise and support junior kitchen staff

â¢ Ensure all dietary requirements are catered for professionally and accurately

â¢ Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment

â¢ Step into the role of Head Chef when required

Requirements

â¢ Formal culinary qualification

â¢ Previous experience as a Sous Chef within a luxury lodge, safari camp, or high-end hospitality environment

â¢ Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices

â¢ Ability to work well under pressure in a remote bush environment

â¢ Excellent organisational and time management skills

â¢ Strong leadership and team support skills

â¢ Creative flair with attention to detail in presentation

â¢ Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
