Role Description

Brief summary of the role:
The Structural Engineer is responsible for structural design, project delivery, client coordination, and mentorship of junior staff. This role plays a key part in technical leadership within the structural engineering unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare structural designs for building and water-retaining structures
  • Conduct condition assessments and structural inspections
  • Lead and manage junior engineers and draftspersons
  • Engage directly with clients and consultants
  • Oversee project timelines, quality control, and deliverables
  • Support tender documentation and technical reporting
  • Ensure compliance with local and international design codes

Reporting Line:

  • Business Unit Manager
  • Candidate Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSc. or BEng. Civil Engineering

Professional Registration(s):

  • ECSA PrEng. Registered (Compulsory)

Years of Relevant Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years post-registration

Preferred Project Experience:

  • Buildings, reservoirs, tanks, commercial and public infrastructure

Technical Skills / Software Required:

  • Prokon, AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), MS Office
  • Structural design and analysis tools

Soft Skills or Cultural Fit Qualities:

  • Team player with strong communication skills
  • Must be fluent in Afrikaans and English
  • Independent, detail-oriented, and quality-focused
