The Student Residence & Building Manager is responsible for the overall operational management, resident experience, and community development of the student residence. The incumbent ensures the residence is safe, secure, clean, financially well-managed and delivers an exceptional student living experience.
This role combines operational property management with student engagement, ensuring that the residence operates efficiently while fostering an inclusive, vibrant and supportive student community. The position serves as the primary point of accountability for all day-to-day residence operations, resident wellbeing, customer service and operational excellence, while coordinating closely with the Facility Manager regarding maintenance and statutory compliance.
Residence & Building Operations
- Manage the daily operation of the residence including:
- Front office and reception services
- Resident administration
- Lease agreements
- Room allocations
- Student arrivals and departures
- Occupancy management
- Building presentation
- Cleaning standards
- Security operations
- Access control
- Inventory management
- Operational inspections
- Housekeeping standards
- Contractor coordination
- Operational risk management

Student Experience & Community Development
Create an outstanding student experience by:
- Building a welcoming and inclusive residence culture
- Planning and executing social, educational and wellness programmes
- Creating the annual student experience calendar
- Managing event budgets
- Promoting diversity and inclusion
- Supporting first-year integration
- Managing Student Life Interns and Residence Ambassadors
- Recruiting, interviewing, appointing and training Student Life Interns
- Building positive relationships with students, parents and universities
- Driving resident satisfaction and retention
Student Support & Wellbeing
- Act as the first point of contact for student concerns
- Support students during emergencies
- Maintain confidential case records
- Conduct support conversations
- Refer students to counselling or academic support services where appropriate
- Mediate roommate disputes and interpersonal conflicts
- Implement student feedback systems
- Enforce residence rules fairly and consistently
- Monitor wellbeing trends and identify students requiring additional support

- Student arrivals are efficiently managed
Facilities Coordination
Work closely with the Facility Manager by:
- Reporting maintenance issues
- Prioritising operational maintenance
- Coordinating contractor access
- Monitoring completion of maintenance
- Following up outstanding work orders
- Communicating maintenance activities to residents
- Identifying recurring building issues

Resident Communication
- Manage official WhatsApp groups
- Publish residence communications
- Notify residents of maintenance
- Communicate events

Financial Management
Responsible for:

- Stock and consumable control
- Petty cash (where applicable)

Ensure compliance with:
