RMI MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT – DELMAS

                              INTERNAL/EXTERNAL

Applications are now open for qualified candidates interested in the position of Maintenance Superintendent at the McCain Delmas site. The role reports directly to the Engineering Manager.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Maintenance Superintendent will lead a team of Artisans, Technicians, and semi-skilled artisans, overseeing all aspects of equipment maintenance. This role is responsible for supervising and supporting the maintenance team, ensuring a safe workplace, and promoting operational stability by improving equipment availability, performance, and efficiency. The Superintendent will also review asset maintenance plans regularly or when new assets or technologies are introduced.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Manage and lead a team of Artisans maintaining equipment across RMI, Potato Storage, Seed Storage, Sweet Potato Wash Plant, Bin areas, manufacturing equipment, utility services, and fire protection systems at the Delmas plant.


• Engineering planning, maintenance, and project management.


• Planning, scheduling, supervision, and executing maintenance tasks.


• Maintaining pumps, fans, motors, and fire system lines compliant with FM Global standards.


• Maintenance of material handling equipment, refrigeration, electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.


• Management of spare parts requirements and ensuring ordering procedures are adhered to.


• Cost management, reporting practices, and basic procurement principles.


• Working knowledge of SAP PM, MM, and Microsoft Office.


• Managing health and safety protocols.


• GMPs and food safety management.


• Plantwide Manufacturing equipment maintenance

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• N6 Certificate – Trade Tested – At least fifteen (15) years of maintenance experience, including five (5) years leading maintenance teams - in Maintenance, ideally within FMCG or Heavy Engineering sectors. OR


• National Diploma/B-Tech/B-Eng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is advantageous – Ten (10) years supervisory experience required - in Maintenance, ideally within FMCG or Heavy Engineering sectors.


• The Ten or Five years' supervisory experience preferred, particularly as a Foreman, Engineer, or Maintenance Supervisor.


• Strong computer skills, along with sound mechanical and electrical knowledge.


• Excellent problem-solving abilities are essential.


• Strong Knowledge of Defect Handling, planning, close-out and circle back.


• Good people skills – Interact with Operators, supervisors, Managers, and contractors.


• Contract Management
