Technical Assistant

Introduction

A leading player in the packaging manufacturing industry is seeking a Technical Assistant / Junior Engineer to support the General Manager in ensuring operational and engineering excellence. This dynamic environment focuses on innovation, sustainability, and the highest standards of quality and safety across its product range for sectors including personal care, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and household products.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to engineers and maintenance teams by conducting research, analysis, and troubleshooting.
• Assist in the design, testing, and improvement of processes, systems, and new technologies.
• Coordinate and manage the General Manager's schedule, including travel, meetings, and communications.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and minutes; maintain digital and physical project records.
• Track project progress and coordinate resources, tools, and materials across departments.
• Oversee inventory and procurement of technical equipment and supplies.
• Enforce and comply with health, safety, and food safety standards (including FSSC and GMP compliance).
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, promoting efficiency and innovation.

Desired Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
• 2 - 5 years of relevant experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or technical support environment.
• Strong technical and analytical skills, including understanding of engineering drawings, equipment, and materials.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and project coordination abilities.
• Proficiency in relevant software and systems.
• Passionate about innovation and sustainability in packaging technology.

Package & Remuneration

• R350,000 P/a CTC package, commensurate with experience.
