Job Description - Technical Sales Support

The Sales team is looking to fill the Technical Sales Support role. This exciting role will be responsible for designing and costing solutions as the first step in the proposal process. We use cutting-edge technology to assist with the project PV layouts, bill of quantities, yield analysis, and the proposed project's budget while being conscious of the commercial value proposition.


 


The role is to ensure quality leads are processed quickly, with accurate design and sizing guided by the customer's key requirements. Our custom-designed software will form part of the enablement tools to achieve our success. Still, attention to detail, a keen interest in the technical side of a solar quotation, and a natural ability to work under pressure will stand you in good stead.



Principal responsibilities:



  • Perform desktop-based solar system sizing and yield assessments.

  • Analyse customer load profiles and electricity bills to inform solution design.

  • Develop PV system designs using Helioscope or equivalent design software.

  • Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for proposed solutions.

  • Gather, verify, and process technical and customer information required for proposal development.

  • Support the development and continuous improvement of best-practice processes for the Technical Sales team.

  • Participate in lessons learned sessions and compile recommendation reports to identify successful and unsuccessful engineering and design elements across projects.

  • Any other job duties associated with this role.


 


Experience & Skills



  • 2-5 years draughting or desktop analysis experience in an electrical field

  • Electrical or Computer qualification from a Technicon or University. (N4-N6 National diploma or equivalent)

  • Experience in the solar and electrical industry

  • Experience Helioscope or equivalent simulation packages

  • Experience in CRM tools and applications

  • Sales or marketing experience

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel when required

  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills

  • Proficient in MS Office and an Intermediate in Excel

  • Experience in Google Maps and Google Earth Pro

  • Experience in data analytics

  • ERP / MS Dynamics experience: Advantageous

  • Solar software experience, such as HOMER or AutoCAD or similar simulation software

  • Experience in MS Office Suite

  • I can support my team members effectively and contribute to the broader success of the function.
