Job Description - Technician Assistant

About Our Client

Our client is a food manufacturing operation based in Malmesbury with an active maintenance and engineering environment. The maintenance team supports production uptime, food safety, equipment reliability and safe factory operations.

Role Overview

The Technician Assistant will support technicians with preventive and corrective maintenance tasks across the site. This is a hands -on technical support role suited to someone with mechanical or electrical interest, manufacturing exposure and the ability to follow instructions carefully in a compliant food production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Assist technicians with preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and technical repair tasks.

Support mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing or general maintenance activities as instructed.

Assist with moving, preparing and handling tools, parts and equipment safely.

Report equipment defects, breakdown observations or maintenance risks to the relevant technician or supervisor.

Help complete job cards, maintenance records and check sheets when required.

Maintain clean, safe and organised maintenance work areas.

Follow food safety, hygiene, PPE and occupational health and safety requirements at all times.

Assist with basic fault -finding support and practical maintenance duties under supervision.

Support production teams by responding promptly when maintenance assistance is required.

Work cooperatively with technicians, production staff and supervisors to maintain uptime and safety.

Requirements

Grade 12 is required.

Technical training or practical maintenance exposure is advantageous.

Mechanical or electrical maintenance exposure is preferred.

FMCG, food manufacturing or general manufacturing experience is advantageous.

Must be hands -on and willing to work in a technical support role.

Must be able to follow instructions and work safely under supervision.

Basic understanding of safe work practices, housekeeping and PPE is required.

Must be physically able to work in a maintenance environment.

Must be able to commute reliably to Malmesbury or relocate at own cost.

Most recent payslip and salary expectation must accompany the application.
