Job Description - Transport/Carrier Sales Specialist

Our client is a technology-driven transport company. They use a platform to connect shippers with transporters and manage road freight end-to-end for efficient, on-time delivery. Their goal is to be Africa’s go-to transport partner, built on innovation, teamwork, and precision. They are looking for a Transport/Carrier Sales Specialist to join their team!

In this role you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring carrier services, using on the spot sales and negotiation skills while always focusing on growing long-term relationships and the financial goals of the organisation. This role is ideal for someone who excels at problem solving, communication, and teamwork in a fast paced, high energy and competitive work environment. 

Position Responsibilities – Tasks – Deliverables 

  • Focus on building new relationships with carrier partners across the country..
  • Manage the carrier partners that you identified during the training program as you develop and procure new relationships.
  • Sharpen your relationship building and customer service skills alongside your Carrier team and manager.
  • Build internal relationships with our Business Development team members and work together to find the best solutions for their clients.
  • Emphasise service – you will be measured on KPIs like on-time deliveries, proactive tracking and outbound calls.
  • Earn industry certifications that will prepare you to source capacity for different types of service offerings

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) 

Experience: (2+ years of experience of the following is preferred) 

• Working knowledge and practical experience of the transportation and logistics industry 

• Participating in a fast-paced, high energy workplace 

• Building and developing strong relationships 

• Persuading, motivating, negotiating, and influencing skills 

• Understanding urgency and time critical operations to support the needs of the business 

• Phone skill rapport 

• Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and self-driven 

Communication

• Excellent communication skills; written and verbal 

Technology/Software

• Microsoft Office Suite – Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. 

• TMS (Transportation Management Software) 

• DAT, Carrier411, Truckstop, 

• MacroPoint, Project44
