VIBRATION & ENVIROMENTAL TESTING TECHNICIAN

Our team in Somerset West has a permanent position for a Mechanical Engineering Technician, to take responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Vibration/shaker Test Facility at Newspace Systems.

KEY TASKS

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Do hands-on test setup (mounting unit on and off the shaker table) and instrumentation (accelerometers etc.)
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as well as calibration tasks relating to the vibration test facility.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Set up configuration files to run the various vibration profiles.
• Maintain and archive configuration files on the PDM database.
• Execute vibration tests as per project requirements.
• Post-process test data.
• Analyse test data and write client-facing reports.
• Keep track of consumables and ordering when needed
• Other ad-hoc duties as required by the company.

PREREQUISITES

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

• NDIP/B-TECH in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution.

Experience (ideally within the aerospace or defense industry):
• 3-5 years of practical machine operator experience in mechanical engineering or a high-tech environment
• Experience in executing mechanical testing and maintenance tasks.
• Experience in structural analysis.
• Experience with instrumentation and data logging.
• Appreciation and experience of ISO9001 requirements.

Additional knowledge areas that would strengthen the application:
• Experience with 3D CAD software for fixture design (SolidWorks) would be advantageous.
• Own car and valid driver’s license preferable.
