Web Developer (PHP, CMS & Shopify) —
Role Overview
Our client, a growing digital agency, is seeking a talented Web Developer to join their team.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across a variety of client projects, building
high -quality websites, and developing e -commerce solutions while ensuring strong technical
performance, security, and user experience.
You will be involved in the full lifecycle of web projects — from development and optimisation
to maintenance and support — with a focus on CMS -based websites and Shopify
ecommerce stores.
Key Responsibilities
Web Development
â Develop, enhance, and maintain websites using PHP, MySQL, and modern front -end
technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
â Build and customise sites within CMS platforms, especially PHP -based systems.
â Develop and optimise Shopify ecommerce stores, including theme customisation
and integrations.
â Translate designs and wireframes into responsive, accessible, user -friendly web
interfaces.
CMS & Ecommerce Management
â Implement templates, modules, and custom functionality within client CMS
environments.
â Configure Shopify themes, apps, payment gateways, and product/catalogue
structures.
â Maintain content structures and ensure consistent performance and UX across client
sites.
Technical Operations
â Manage website hosting environments and support tasks involving domains, DNS,
SSL, and basic server operations.
â Implement and integrate third -party services such as analytics tools, marketing
systems, and CRM platforms.
â Conduct website testing, debugging, and QA to ensure reliability, performance, and
adherence to best practices.
Security, Compliance & Performance
â Follow secure coding practices to protect data and maintain platform integrity.
â Optimise websites for speed, SEO best practice, and overall performance.
â Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards (e.g., data protection,
accessibility).
Collaboration & Workflow
â Work closely with designers, project managers, and other developers to deliver high -
quality client solutions.
â Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast -paced agency environment.
â Document work clearly and communicate progress effectively to the team.
Essential Skills & Experience
â Strong experience in PHP and MySQL.
â Skilled in front -end development: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript.
â Experience building websites within CMS platforms (ProcessWire experience
beneficial but not required).
â Ability to build and customise Shopify stores (or experience with similar ecommerce
platforms and willingness to learn Shopify quickly).
â Understanding of hosting, domains, DNS, and general web infrastructure.
â Strong problem -solving abilities and attention to detail.
â Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
â Confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
Desirable Skills (Nice to Have)
â Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, etc.).
â Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Cloudflare, Google Cloud, Netlify).
â Understanding of OWASP, secure coding practices, or Cyber Essentials.
â Exposure to mobile app development.
â Linux server administration experience.
â Knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles.
