Winemaker Opportunity at Benguela Cove Wine Estate

Are you passionate about winemaking and eager to take the next step in your career? Benguela Cove Wine Estate, situated in the picturesque Hermanus region, is seeking a Winemaker to join our team in a permanent capacity.

Reporting to the Cellar Master, this role is integral to our winemaking process, ensuring the production of premium wines that reflect the estate’s exceptional terroir.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and coordinate harvest activities.


• Manage the full winemaking process, from grape to bottle.


• Ensure strict quality control and compliance with industry standards.


• Conduct stock takes, inventory management, and procurement.


• Handle blending and stabilization of wines.


• Manage SAWIS administration and compliance.


• Train and supervise cellar staff.


• Maintain bottling quality control and oversee basic laboratory analysis.


• Manage cellar operations, maintenance, and hygiene.


• Collaborate on wine sales, tastings, and promotional activities.


• Perform general tasks associated with cellar operations.

Requirements:

• A Degree/Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology.


• 3–4 years’ experience as an Assistant Winemaker or 1–2 years in a similar role.


• Strong computer skills (MS Office, WineMS).


• Knowledge of quality control systems (IPW, WIETA).


• SAWIS administration experience.


• Fully bilingual (English & Afrikaans).


• Willingness to travel and work overtime as needed.


• A valid driver’s license.
