Job Description - Instructional Designer

Purpose of the job As an Instructional Designer, you will play a pivotal role in creating engaging and effective learning experiences that empower individuals to acquire new skills and knowledge. Working closely with subject matter experts, trainers, and stakeholders, you will design and develop instructional materials and programs that leverage best practices in adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical expertise, and a passion for education and innovation. Key Responsibilities Needs Analysis: · Collaborate with stakeholders to conduct needs assessments and identify learning objectives, audience characteristics, and performance gaps.

Curriculum Development:  

· Design and develop instructional materials, including lesson plans, presentations, activities, assessments, and multimedia assets, that align with learning objectives and engage learners. 

· Organize content in a logical and sequential manner to facilitate comprehension and retention. 

Instructional Design: 

· Apply instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and pedagogical best practices to create interactive and learner-centered experiences. · Select appropriate instructional technologies and tools to enhance learning outcomes and facilitate learner engagement. 

Content Creation and Curation:  

· Develop original content and multimedia assets, such as e-learning modules, videos, simulations, and interactive exercises, or curate existing resources to support learning objectives. 

· Write clear and concise instructional materials, incorporating visual aids, examples, and real-world scenarios to enhance understanding. 

Quality Assurance: 

· Review and revise instructional materials to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with learning objectives, standards, and guidelines. 

· Conduct usability testing and gather feedback from learners to identify areas for improvement and refinement. 

Collaboration and Project Management:  

· Collaborate with subject matter experts, trainers, and other stakeholders to gather content, solicit feedback, and iterate on instructional materials. 

· Manage instructional design projects, including timelines, resources, and deliverables, to ensure timely completion and quality outcomes. Knowledge, skills and experience required
· Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualifications in Instructional Design, Education, Digital Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
· Finance degree will be advantageous.
· Must have 3-5 relevant experience interacting with various stakeholders, also on a virtual capacity, and additionally must be able to independently obtain the information.
· Proven experience as an instructional designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing instructional materials and projects.
· Proficiency in instructional design methodologies, such as ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), and familiarity with learning management systems (LMS) and e-learning authoring tools.
· Excellent ability to simplify complex ideas and communicate them clearly to a non-technical audience.
· Creativity and innovation, with a passion for exploring new approaches and technologies to enhance learning experiences.
· Collaboration and teamwork, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
