POSITION INFO:
Successful Manufacturing company based in Belville with a reputation based on 25 years of proven delivery, quality and consistent customer service excellence is looking for a ambitious Management Accountant to grow into a Financial Manager role. The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to management accounting, financial
accounting processes, forecasting, job costing, bill of materials, budgeting, customer credit
management and systems implementation. Assist directors and senior management in making
critical business decisions by analysing and presenting key financial data. You will actively
implement new systems, manage the finance admin team, interact closely with senior and middle
management, set up daily dash boards, oversee accounting procedures, prepare forecasts,
budgets and risk analysis.
You must be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset and must be able to
assume responsibility of cost accounting tasks and be both a strategist and a decision maker.
Responsibilities
- Implement and improve both financial control and ERP systems to align management
information to world class standards
- Ensure business transactions are reported in accordance with generally accepted accounting
principles
- Review and analyse expense variances for company management
- Engage with manufacturing managers to develop sound costing models to achieve optimal
stock control for raw materials, WIP and finished goods
- Engage with servicing managers to develop all cost inclusive models to determine appropriate
recovery rates
- Engage with procurement department to identify major cost drivers and provide information to
ensure effective price negotiation with suppliers
- Engage with logistics store management department to ensure daily live stock control and
ensure shared stock on hand data accurate
- Mentor finance and admin staff to achieve proper financial control process flows through
detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Financial control of weekly and monthly payrolls
- Budgeting and funding feasibility models
- Assisting the company in managing its investments
- Foreign exchange purchases and negotiations (Knowledge of SARS import and export
regulations are advantageous)
- Manage finance administration department to meet stringent deadlines
- Assume responsibility of accounting related policies and procedures
- Evaluate the company’s performance using key data
- Compile forecasts to assist business planning and decision-making
- Conduct risk assessment and advise on ways to minimize risk
- Advise on challenges, suggest improvements and provide solutions
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
- Maintain SARS tax compliance at all times
- Engage with external auditors to manage semester and annual SARS deliverables
Requirements
- Proven experience as management accountant, accounting supervisor or similar role
- Solid knowledge of basic and advanced financial accounting principles and practices
- Excellent knowledge of cost accounting and reporting
- Excellent knowledge of risk analysis, budgeting and forecasting
- Working knowledge of financial accounting, ERP and MS Office software
- Analytical mind with aptitude in practical math
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- A problem-solver with attention to detail
- Organizational and leadership skills
- Fluent in English (fluency in Afrikaans is advantageous)
- Sound knowledge of tax and VAT regulations
- Experience in submitting SARS VAT and EMP returns
- High levels of Emotional Intelligence / Quality for a rapid changing growth environment
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirement: BCom / BTech Accounting or Management Accounting
- Completed SAIPA/ SAICA/CIMA articles are advantageous (or proof of being in progress);
- 5 years post-qualifying professional working experience.
