Job Description - Painter

Project

A commissioning crew for a FNLG vessel working offshore Western Africa (Starting in Dubai) .


Job Summary:

The Painter will be responsible for surface preparation and painting activities during the commissioning of the FLNG vessel. They will work closely with other teams to ensure the proper application of paint and coatings.


Responsibilities:

Surface Preparation:

  • Clean and prepare surfaces by sanding, scraping, filling cracks, and applying primers to ensure proper paint adhesion.
  • Mask and tape off areas that need protection from paint or overspray.

Paint Application:

  • Apply paint, varnish, stains, or other finishes using brushes, rollers, spray guns, or other appropriate methods.
  • Achieve smooth, even coats and proper coverage to create a visually appealing finish.

Color Mixing and Matching:

  • Mix and blend paints to achieve desired colors and shades.
  • Match paint colors to samples or specifications provided by clients or project managers.

Quality Control and Inspection:

  • Inspect finished surfaces for imperfections, runs, or other defects, and make necessary touch-ups or corrections.
  • Ensure that the final product meets quality standards and project requirements.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safety guidelines during painting operations.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment to prevent accidents.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Clean and maintain painting equipment, brushes, rollers, and spray guns to ensure proper functioning.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to supervisors.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of painting activities, including paint colors used, quantities, and application methods.
  • Complete required reports and paperwork related to painting operations.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to coordinate painting tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding work progress and challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant certification in painting or surface preparation.
  • Previous experience as a Painter on industrial projects.
  • Knowledge of safety standards related to painting.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous offshore experience
  • Experience working on a project (commissioning/construction/hookup)
  • Need to be comfortable working offshore for 2-3 months
  • Valid Passport
  • Possess the following certifications: BOSIET/FOET, OGUK Medical, Yellow Fever card, Fully vaccinated against COVID-19
