We are seeking a resourceful, commercially minded Business Development & Outreach Virtual Assistant to act as an execution partner for the Founder of an early-stage healthcare finance startup.
This is not a traditional, task-based administrative VA seat. Operating with high agency and commercial instincts, you will take high-level Founder objectives and turn them into structured, daily business development campaigns—building prospect databases, executing outbound outreach, organizing follow-ups, and securing initial pilot customers across Self-Funded Employers, Third-Party Administrators (TPAs), and Employee Benefits Brokers. By managing top-of-funnel list building, outreach logistics, content distribution, and CRM hygiene, you will generate qualified conversations for the Founder to lead and close.
1. Prospect Research, List Building & Pipeline Intelligence
Ideal Customer Profiling: Conduct independent online research using tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator, lead databases, and industry directories to identify target organizations and executive decision-makers (HR, Benefits, Finance leaders).
Data Verification & Segmentation: Source and verify professional contact details; organize structured prospect lists categorized by market segment, company size, and priority tiers.
Continuous Sourcing: Proactively identify new healthcare associations, employer coalitions, and industry communities to expand the company's addressable target database.
2. Outbound Outreach Campaigns & Pilot Sourcing
Multi-Channel Campaign Execution: Launch and manage personalized email and LinkedIn outbound outreach sequences tailored to Self-Funded Employers, TPAs, and Benefits Brokers.
Cadence & Response Management: Execute structured follow-up cadences to ensure zero warm leads fall through the cracks; handle initial responses, address general questions, and escalate qualified leads.
Founder Meeting Handoffs: Coordinate introductory discovery calls between qualified prospective pilot clients and the Founder, providing pre-call prospect research briefs.
3. Content Distribution & Community Engagement
Brand Awareness Execution: Distribute company thought leadership and educational content across relevant professional platforms, LinkedIn groups, and healthcare communities.
Market Monitoring: Identify relevant online industry discussions where the Founder or company can contribute insights, surfacing high-value engagement opportunities.
4. Business Development Administration & Founder Support
CRM & Tracker Governance: Maintain accurate, up-to-date prospect records, interaction histories, and pipeline stages inside the CRM or tracking spreadsheets.
Performance Reporting: Prepare concise weekly BD briefs outlining contacts initiated, response rates, meetings booked, and key messaging feedback.
Autonomous Execution: Receive broad goals (e.g., "We need to reach more TPAs for product pilots") and independently build and execute the end-to-end plan.
Professional Experience: Proven track record in Business Development Support, Sales Development (SDR), Lead Generation, Virtual Assistance, or Startup Operations.
Exceptional Written English: Flawless written English communication and professional tone suitable for outreach to U.S.-based C-suite and executive decision-makers.
Critical Thinking & High Agency: Ability to take broad outcomes, conduct independent research, solve operational friction, and execute without needing step-by-step instructions.
Prospecting & Tech Stack Familiarity: Hands-on experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator, email outreach software, lead research databases, CRM platforms, and Google Workspace / Excel.
Startup Adaptability: Comfortable operating in an early-stage environment with evolving processes, message testing, and shifting priorities.
Geographic Alignment: Based in South Africa or Latin America with consistent overlap during US business hours.
Industry exposure or background in U.S. healthcare, health insurance, employee benefits, self-funded health plans, TPAs, or healthcare finance.
Experience working directly alongside a startup Founder or C-suite executive.
Pipeline Growth: Consistently researching, verifying, and adding qualified target prospects to the database each week.
Outbound Execution & Response Rates: Maintaining consistent outbound activity, high follow-up completion, and strong prospect response rates.
Pilot Opportunities Created: Successfully generating qualified introductory meetings and pilot conversations for the Founder.
Founder Capacity Relief: Fully absorbing list building, outreach scheduling, and tracking logistics so the Founder focuses solely on product strategy and closing sales conversations.
