Responsibilities

  • Identify experts to act as peer reviewers on selected submissions.

  • Write editorials.

  • Commission content to build our journal’s profile among the communities we serve and handle special project content as necessary.

  • Develop and maintain links with the regional health community to solicit high-quality research and thought leadership for the journal.

  • Attend conferences and other events, to represent the journal, to identify suitable topics and authors, and to keep up-to-date with current developments in regional health.

  • Suggesting and helping to develop new initiatives for future development and enhancement of the journal.

Requirements

  • Higher degree (PhD) in a relevant discipline (eg, biomedical science, public health, global health), or a medical degree (MD). Post-doc experience is desirable but not an absolute requirement.

  • Research experience in a relevant field or experience in the wider development community.

  • Editorial experience, with a good understanding of all aspects of the journal publishing process would be an added advantage but not an absolute requirement.

  • First-class critical analysis skills.

  • A genuine commitment to equity in health and health care.

  • An unfailingly can-do attitude.

  • Enjoy collaborating with teams to deliver successful projects and initiatives on time.

  • Have a natural ability to engage, influence and build relationships with stakeholders, teams and our community.

  • Be accustomed to diversity and working globally and can connect with colleagues at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrate alignment with the Lancet’s values.
