We have successfully launched our first innovative product in the United States and Germany, and we are on the verge of rapid expansion in Europe with our second innovative product. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the launch of our endocrinology pipeline and have a significant impact on our commercial expansion.

We are seeking a passionate Medical Operations Manager to join our rapidly expanding global organization. As a key member of the Ascendis Pharma Iberia team, you will play a crucial role in driving and managing the overall business processes for the Medical Affairs team in Spain/Portugal, including budget management, operational planning of Medical Affairs events, and tracking and reporting of activities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our newly established Iberian affiliate and to become part of a fast-paced environment, collaborate with cross-functional, global teams working together to achieve extraordinary results.

You will be joining the Ascendis Pharma Iberia team consisting of a handful of passionate and skilled colleagues. The number of colleagues is budgeted to grow significantly in 2024 and 2025.

You will report directly to the Medical Affairs Director Spain/Portugal who is based in Madrid, Spain. You will be based in the Madrid office as well.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Collaborates in the development of the business plan of the Medical Affairs department, in line with the Company's strategy, including medical education projects, training, and clinical studies.
  • Executes local medical plan with the MSLs, under the leadership of the Medical Affairs Director.
  • Drives and manages business processes for the Medical Affairs team and ensures timely planning of deliverables, including but not limited to medical-led projects, budget management, and preparation and presentation of reports/dashboards.
  • Manages operational activities for Ascendis presence at scientific congresses, Ad Boards, expert meetings, publications, including vendor relationships, contracts, briefings to HCPs, and compliance. May contribute to staffing of medical booths during congresses.
  • Collaborates with Medical Affairs colleagues as well as cross functional team colleagues in all the necessary tasks to achieve planned objectives, both in country and above country, including but not limited to commercial, clinical development, market access, regulatory, quality, pharmacovigilance, and global functions.
  • Evaluates and ensures execution of requests for information from healthcare professionals, whether in the form of bibliographic requests, clinical sessions, product dossiers, resolution of doubts or support in the development of various types of projects.
  • Supports the development of promotional materials and medical review of content, using Ascendis Pharma processes, platforms, SOPs, and established vendors.

Qualifications and Skills:

You hold a relevant academic degree – preferably a M.Sc. or PhD in Health Science, PharmD or MD – and +4 years of experience within Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry or biotech.

Furthermore, you have :

  • Rare Disease and/or Endocrinology experience.
  • Project management experience and/or certification.
  • Code of Practice for the Pharmaceutical Industry
  • Knowledge of the regulatory framework that regulates the activity of Medical Affairs/MSLs in a pharmaceutical company, such as the Code of Practice or the Pharmaceutical Industry, and the legislation related to clinical research and that applicable to drug advertising.
  • Proficiency with computer and software applications (i.e., Microsoft office) and literature search engines.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent Spanish, and English language skills, both written and verbal. Portuguese is a plus.

Travel : Up to 20 % days per year.
