Accounting Director - Barcelona

About the role 

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Accounting Director to lead our finance and accounting functions across Spain, UK and Latin America. This role is crucial in ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while supporting the company’s growth and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a hands-on approach to managing complex financial operations in a multinational environment.

Your responsibilities 

• Oversee and manage the finance and accounting teams across multiple geographies, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Lead and mentor a team of approximately 5 professionals, including accountants and consolidation accountants.


• Direct the month-end and year-end financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for all entities within the group. Conduct comprehensive reviews and provide recommendations to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.


• Lead group and local audits of financial statements on an annual basis, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.


• Oversee the global implementation of a new accounting system, ensuring smooth transition, integration, and adoption across the organization.


• Develop, implement, and enforce robust internal controls to safeguard company assets, improve processes, and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures. Fixed asset control.


• Support corporate restructuring, mergers, and acquisitions within the group, providing accounting assessments to facilitate decision-making.


• Partner with senior management, external auditors and financial institutions to support business operations and strategic initiatives.
  
  

About you

• 10 years of progressive experience in financial leadership roles, preferably in big 4 companies. 


• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field


• Fluency in Spanish and English is required


• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements in Spain and LATAM. Experience with Netsuit and Oracle.


• Outstanding analytical skills


• Self-motivated, with ability to lead and drive change initiatives, can-do attitude


• Good organisational/time management skills, structural thinking


• Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic insights


• Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams, collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, and communicate financial insights effectively to senior management
