Business Development & Venue Manager
Reporting to: Director of Operations
Location: IKONO Barcelona
The Opportunity
We are looking for an energetic, commercially midned person to unlock the potential of IKONO Barcelona. Your main objective will be simple: bring people, partnerships, and revenue into the venue.
This is a hands-on, outbound role for someone who enjoys opening doors, building relationships, spotting opportunities, and turning ideas into commercial results. You will have significant ownership of the local strategy and the opportunity to grow with the role as the business develops.
Alongside commercial development, you will ensure the venue remains open, presentable, compliant, and ready to welcome visitors and deliver confirmed activities.
What You Will Do
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of commercial opportunities.
- Proactively contact companies, agencies, brands, schools, tourism partners, event organizers, and local businesses.
- Secure corporate events, private hires, group visits, brand activations, pop-ups, productions, and other partnerships.
- Develop proposals, negotiate commercial terms, and manage opportunities from first contact through delivery.
- Build a strong local network through calls, emails, LinkedIn, meetings, venue visits, and events.
- Identify creative new ways to generate revenue and make better use of the space.
- Coordinate the successful delivery of confirmed bookings and activations.
- Maintain accurate sales activity, forecast, and commercial updates.
- Keep the venue operating with lean structure, ensuring essential staffing, maintenance, safety, cleanliness, and supplier coordination.
- Work with HQ teams across Marketing, Operations, Finance, People and Legal.
Who We Are Looking For
- A proactive, energetic, and results-driven salesperson.
- Demonstrable experience in outbound sales, business development, partnerships, events, hospitality, tourism, entertainment, or venue hire.
- A strong communicator who is confident approaching new contacts and decision-makers.
- Someone who enjoys prospecting, negotiating, closing, and taking ownership of targets.
- Commercially creative, persistent, organized, and comfortable working independently.
- Able to balance commercial priorities with the essential day-to-day needs of the venue.
- Experience using a CRM and managing sales pipeline.
- Fluent in Spanish and English. Catalan is a plus.
Experience in events, corporate hospitality, experiential marketing, cultural venues, tourism, brand activations, or local partnerships would be especially valuable.
