About the role

We're looking for a commercially savvy Category Managers to take ownership of one of Officeworks' most dynamic and innovative Technology portfolios.

In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and executing category strategies that deliver strong commercial outcomes while creating an exceptional customer experience across every channel. Partnering with some of the world's leading technology brands, you'll identify emerging trends across technology, mobility and the Android ecosystem, bring new products and solutions to market, and ensure our offer continues to meet the evolving needs of Australian consumers and businesses.

This is a highly visible role that combines strategic thinking, commercial leadership and supplier partnership management, providing the opportunity to make a significant impact on one of Officeworks' most important categories. You'll use customer, market and trading insights to shape category direction, drive growth and deliver compelling product and service solutions that support Officeworks' commitment to offering customers the widest range, low prices and best experience.

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop and execute category strategies and trade plans that deliver sales, profit and market share growth.


• Identify customer, market and technology trends to shape a compelling category proposition across all channels.


• Lead range reviews, pricing strategies, promotional activity and product lifecycle management.


• Build and manage strategic supplier partnerships, leading commercial negotiations and driving mutually beneficial outcomes.


• Use customer, competitor and trading insights to identify opportunities, mitigate risks and optimise category performance.


• Partner with teams across Planning, Marketing, Inventory, Finance, Online and Operations to bring category strategies to life.


• Drive innovation through new products, services and category initiatives that enhance the customer experience.


• Coach and support team members while contributing to a high-performing and collaborative category team.

About you

• Significant experience in category management, buying, merchandising or a related commercial retail environment.


• Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering sales growth, profitability and commercial outcomes.


• Experience developing category strategies and translating insights into actionable plans.


• A passion for technology, innovation and understanding evolving customer needs, with exposure to highly sought-after technology categories such as Android devices, mobility or connected technology.


• Strong analytical capability and confidence using data to inform decisions and identify opportunities.


• Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills.


• Experience building strategic supplier relationships and managing complex commercial discussions.


• A collaborative leadership style with a focus on coaching, developing and supporting others.
