Controller

William Vaughan Company is helping in the search for a Controller for a Structural Steel Organization based in Toledo, OH. They are looking to continue to provide great products and services to their clients with the addition of this Controller. This position will be responsible for a small accounting team and would oversee all accounting functions such as cash flow management/forecasting, insurance policies, month end closings, WIP, workers compensation and permits. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain smooth and efficient financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a detailed knowledge of accounting, is organized, has strong communication skills, willing to take charge, but diligent in the requesting and receiving of information.

Role:

• • Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of financial statements.
  • Organize and facilitate safety training sessions, such as luncheons and workshops, to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain accurate records for Work in Progress (WIP), ensuring proper allocation of costs and timely reporting.
  • Manage the company’s insurance programs, ensuring adequate coverage and timely renew
  • Oversee the ordering and renewal of necessary permits, licenses, and tags for company operations, ensuring timely submission and compliance with local regulations.
  • Support operational departments by tracking key performance indicators and providing necessary financial information for decision-making

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
• Experience with insurance management, workers' compensation, and safety training programs.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Well organized, detail oriented
