Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Credit Control Hub Lead - Continental Europe in our Finance Operations team in our company market in Continental Europe.
The Credit Control team is a key component of our International Insurance Division and works closely with brokers, clients, externally as well as the finance, underwriting, underwriting operations, Information Technology and claims teams internally. Driven for a collaborative resolution to cash and credit control challenges to maintain superior customer service and profitability for the organisation in Continental Europe

What you’ll be doing:
• Create and manage a committed and focused collections team in Continental Europe
• Ensure the effective organization and control of accounts processes and cash collection in Continental Europe, including the co-insurance collection and remittance process
• Be a referral point to Finance, underwriting department, underwriting operations and claims teams in Continental Europe and within the credit control team for complex queries and technical expertise
• Manage debts by monitoring overdue debt, aged debt and outstanding queries and taking relevant action
• Monitor and control bad debt accounts taking appropriate action
• Prepare monthly targets, compile, and analyse monthly results
• Ensure continued development of high-quality credit management techniques
• Assist the Head of Finance Operations in the provision of support to the senior management team
• Assess the credit risk of new customers, performing credit assessments and credit reviews, and provide monthly reports illustrating the spread of risk
• Maintain excellent working relationships across the company
• Manage performance and staff development, effective management of workload, procedures, and documentation
• Ensure agreed best practice and service standards are met
• Build, maintain and support personal and team working relationships with clients and brokers via regular telephone contact and personal face-to-face visits
• Be clear and concise in all written and verbal communications with clients
• Role model an assertive and positive manner in dealing with client/credit related contact
What you’ll bring:
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within the Insurance/reinsurance market in Continental Europe is essential.
• Experience of credit control in the Insurance sector, especially in context of co-insurance
• Demonstrable knowledge of technical and accounting procedures and credit control
• Full understanding of service standards, terms of trade and audit guidelines
• Experience of Aged Debt Reporting and analysis is essential.
• Strong Excel skills at Proficient Level (including macros) are essential for this role.
• Strong grasp of co-insurance processes and systems.
• Ability to work on own initiative.
• Ability and confidence to challenge existing procedures and use of system.
• Strong technical skills including credit control skills.
• Knowledge of Insurance and Reinsurance products in Continental Europe would be an advantage.
• Awareness of Sox Controls is desirable but not essential.
• Associate or member of the Chartered Institute of credit management is desirable but not essential.
• English language skills are essential, Italian or French language skills are an advantage
