Financial Controller
Job Description Summary
The Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative management of a portfolio of real estate assets under management. This role ensures the accuracy of financial reporting, budget control, cash flow management, tenant billing, and compliance with contractual obligations, while supporting asset performance and client objectives.
The position acts as a key liaison between property management teams, tenants, co-owners, service providers, legal advisors, and clients, ensuring efficient financial operations, robust internal controls, and high-quality reporting. The Financial Controller also leads and develops team members, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across the portfolio.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain, and update Business Plans for each asset in accordance with client mandates.
- Oversee tenant and co-owner invoicing processes, ensuring accuracy and timely issuance.
- Manage and monitor lease and contractual obligations, including expirations, guarantees, incentives, stepped rents, rent-free periods, annual indexations, and other commercial terms.
- Supervise accounts receivable activities, including collection management, analysis of incentives and discounts, and negotiation of payment plans with tenants and co-owners.
- Coordinate with external legal advisors and other third-party providers regarding disputes, claims, and judicial processes.
- Review and monitor community service charge budgets and operating expenses across the managed portfolio.
- Approve and oversee supplier payments, ensuring compliance with internal controls and contractual commitments.
- Prepare, coordinate, and review periodic management and financial reports as required by client mandates.
- Serve as a key point of contact for tenants and co-owners, escalating issues and coordinating resolutions with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, financial procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote efficient use of resources and support environmental sustainability initiatives
Skills & Competencies

- Solid understanding of commercial lease structures and real estate financial operations.

- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.

- Ability to manage multiple assets and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Leadership experience with a collaborative and results-oriented approach.
Preferred Experience
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
- Experience in real estate, property management, asset management, or commercial real estate environments.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, service charge management, and financial controls.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial reporting systems.
- Fluency in Spanish and professional working proficiency in English.
