Job Description:

Enfinity Global is seeking a strategic and technically proficient Engineering Director, to lead the design, development, and execution of utility-scale Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. This role is based in Tokyo, Japan, and requires proficiency in both Japanese and English. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, technical analysis, and coordination of the connection process of renewable energy plants to the electrical grid, ensuring compliance with Japanese grid standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:

• Define and execute the engineering strategy for PV and BESS projects.
• Collaborate with procurement, planning, and project management teams to align engineering deliverables with business goals.

Project Development & Execution:

• Oversee the technical design and optimization of PV and BESS systems.
• Ensure engineering deliverables meet project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Support feasibility studies, grid connection assessments, and energy yield analysis.

Technical Oversight:

• Approve system layouts, single-line diagrams, and interconnection designs.
• Ensure compliance with local and international codes, standards, and regulations.
• Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to improve system performance and reliability.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Interface with clients, regulators, and third-party consultants.
• Provide technical leadership during permitting, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Support contract negotiations and technical due diligence for EPC and O&M agreements.

Risk Management & Quality Assurance:

• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Implement best practices in engineering documentation, QA/QC, and change management.

• 10+ years of experience in utility-scale PV and/or BESS projects, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong understanding of grid integration, energy storage technologies, and power systems.
• Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVSyst, ETAP, Homer, etc.).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken).

Additional preferred skills:

• Experience with international projects and multi-country engineering teams.
• Familiarity with Japanese utility companies, policies, and interconnection processes.
• Knowledge of permitting and regulatory frameworks in key markets.
• Experience working in Japan’s renewable energy sector, particularly with PV and BESS plants.
