Your role and work environment:

The Head of Lending is responsible for the commercial performance of the WB Lending Product in Spain, drives the Spanish sector P&L targets and steers on risk/return. As the local Head of Lending, you will be the face of the market and drive commercial strategy for the country, including Capital Velocity, Organizational Health Index (OHI), and Net Promoter Score (NPS) targets. The Head of WB Lending Spain & Portugal is accountable for the performance of the local Lending portfolio, driving the local Lending proposition, working closely within the Sectors and overseeing the Lending Product Control Framework (PCF). You will be a member of the WB Spain Management Team and will actively contribute to the EMEA Lending MT, ensuring strong alignment with the regional strategy and governance framework. You also support the local Lending teams developing their HR agenda, in cooperation with your HR Business Partner.

The team

You will have coordination and overarching business performance responsibility for the Lending teams active in the country, covering corporate and institutional clients. In Spain, this includes the following teams:

• Corporate Sector Lending (CSL)
• Sector & Specialized Lending (S&SL)
• Portfolio Management (PM)

The opportunity:

The role is intended to have oversight of the Lending organization within Spain. In addition, the role will be integral to the organizational set up of the Wholesale Banking organization. The role will be part of relevant local, EMEA and, if applicable, global management team forums. Next to that, the Head of Lending is expected to chair their own management team meeting, including all local Lending heads, as well as other relevant stakeholders, as applicable, and shall take ownership of locally driven strategic themes related to the Lending product.

Your key responsibilities:

You will work closely together with team members in Madrid and other locations, and with various product specialists across ING. In all your activities you will strive to anticipate, meet and exceed client needs in the best way.

• Broadening and strengthening the regional and local Lending strategy, target setting, business planning and taking local ownership of implementing strategic themes related to the Lending product
• Steering the commercial, financial, operational and regulatory performance and effectiveness of the local Lending book, including, but not limited to:
  • Accountability for P&L (MASS), RWA, Risk/Return, direct, indirect and risk cost
• Effective Transaction and Portfolio Management and reporting
• Identifying growth opportunities in the local Lending market and fostering a co-origination mindset
• Delivering superior customer experience through client centricity, collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation
• Coordinating knowledge sharing across local Lending teams and with other relevant stakeholders
• Obtaining and sharing relevant market information and competitive dynamics
• Proactively contributing to local Capital Velocity and Sustainability targets
• Ensuring regulatory compliance, data quality and remediation as well as sound management of financial and non-financial risk
• Actively contributing to the EMEA Lending franchise, including WB strategic planning, alignment and execution, and participating in international projects in close cooperation with Tribe Lending and other global stakeholders
• Leading the roll-out of relevant regulatory programs and system implementations
• Owning the local Lending product proposition and quality including:
  • Process standardization (including roll-out and maintenance of the Lending PCF)
  • Sourcing
  • Implementation of our Lending Digitalization Journey and the related new WoW
• Driving our people’s agenda by means of:
  • Developing talent and sharpening performance culture
  • Fostering engagement
  • Creating a culture of diversity, inclusiveness and belonging, in support of growing a profitable business
  • Attracting, engaging, and developing talent and built high performing teams.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a pro-active professional with a strong personal drive, international experience and looking for opportunities on your own initiative. You have the ability to operate in a highly demanding environment, to deal with pressure and to perform under tight deadlines. You have a strong commercial drive and have excellent communication skills.

• 15+ years of proven experience as banking professional with a strong commercial track-record, solid understanding of the local market and the Lending product
• Results-driven and ambitious, with an organized, balanced, and collaborative operating style
• Leadership skills in a commercial environment to steer, unify and engage local Lending teams and interact with relevant stakeholders skilled in managing across different (Lending) domains
• Ability to create a “one team” vision and feeling and drive people topics to the next level
• Advanced communication, interpersonal and process management skills, organizational sensitivity, and commercial drive combined with sound credit judgement and analytical skills; sound knowledge of financial and non-financial risks acting as 1st line of defense
• Naturally collaborative with the ability to effectively operate within matrix organization
• Established internal network; external market / client network is a positive
• Able to adapt to a fast-changing environment and embracing change
• Entrepreneurial skills seeking constant innovation with an outside-in perspective, always looking for ways to create improvements and efficiency

Como Head of Lending, serás responsable del rendimiento comercial del producto WB Lending en España, impulsando los objetivos de P&L sectoriales y supervisando el equilibrio riesgo/retorno. La oportunidad

El rol está diseñado para ejercer supervisión sobre toda la organización de Lending en España. Además, será una pieza clave en la estructura organizativa de Wholesale Banking. Formarás parte de foros relevantes a nivel local, EMEA y, cuando aplique, globales.

Asimismo, se espera que el/la Head of Lending lidere su propio comité de dirección, involucrando a todas las personas responsables locales de Lending y a otros grupos de interés relevantes. También tomará la propiedad de los temas estratégicos impulsados localmente vinculados al producto Lending.

Tus principales responsabilidades

Trabajarás estrechamente con colegas en Madrid y otras localizaciones, así como con especialistas de producto en toda la red ING. En todas tus actividades, buscarás anticiparte a las necesidades de clientes, satisfacerlas y superarlas.

• Ampliar y fortalecer la estrategia de Lending regional y local, estableciendo objetivos, realizando la planificación del negocio y asumiendo la implementación local de los temas estratégicos relacionados con el producto Lending.
• Supervisar el desempeño comercial, financiero, operativo y regulatorio del libro de Lending local, incluyendo pero sin limitarse a:
  • Responsabilidad sobre P&L (MASS), RWA, riesgo/retorno, costes directos, indirectos y riesgo.
• Asegurar una gestión eficaz de Transacciones y Portfolio Management, así como reporting de calidad.
• Identificar oportunidades de crecimiento en el mercado local de Lending y fomentar una mentalidad de co-originación.
• Impulsar una experiencia superior para clientes, basada en la centralidad en la clientela, la colaboración, la mejora continua y la innovación.
• Coordinar la compartición de conocimiento entre los equipos locales de Lending y otros colectivos relevantes.
• Obtener y compartir información relevante del mercado y la dinámica competitiva.
• Contribuir de manera proactiva a los objetivos de Capital Velocity y Sostenibilidad.
• Garantizar el cumplimiento regulatorio, la calidad del dato y la remediación, así como una gestión sólida del riesgo financiero y no financiero.
• Contribuir activamente al franchise EMEA de Lending, incluyendo planificación estratégica de WB, alineamiento y ejecución, así como la participación en proyectos internacionales en colaboración con Tribe Lending y otros equipos globales.
• Liderar el despliegue de programas regulatorios relevantes e implementaciones de sistemas.
• Asumir la responsabilidad local sobre la propuesta y calidad del producto Lending, incluyendo:
  • Estandarización de procesos (incluyendo despliegue y mantenimiento del Lending PCF)
  • Sourcing
  • Implementación de nuestra Lending Digitalization Journey y el nuevo WoW asociado

• Impulsar la agenda de Personas mediante:

• Desarrollo de talento y fortalecimiento de la cultura de rendimiento
• Impulso del compromiso

¿Qué buscamos?

Buscamos a un/a profesional proactivo/a, con fuerte motivación personal, experiencia internacional y con iniciativa propia para identificar oportunidades. Debes ser capaz de operar en un entorno altamente exigente, gestionar presión y rendir bajo plazos ajustados. Contarás con un marcado enfoque comercial y excelentes habilidades de comunicación.

• Más de 15 años de experiencia demostrada en banca, con un sólido track-record comercial y profundo entendimiento del mercado local y del producto Lending.
• Perfil orientado a resultados, ambicioso/a, organizado/a, equilibrado/a y con un estilo colaborativo.
• Habilidades de liderazgo en entornos comerciales, capaces de guiar, cohesionar y comprometer a los equipos locales de Lending, interactuando con múltiples grupos de interés y gestionando adecuadamente distintos ámbitos de Lending.
• Capacidad para crear una visión y sentimiento de “un solo equipo” y elevar los temas de Personas al siguiente nivel.
• Habilidades avanzadas de comunicación, gestión interpersonal y de procesos, sensibilidad organizativa y visión comercial, combinadas con criterio crediticio sólido y capacidad analítica. Conocimiento profundo del riesgo financiero y no financiero, actuando como primera línea de defensa.
• Perfil naturalmente colaborativo, capaz de operar eficazmente en una organización matricial.
• Red interna consolidada; contar con red externa o de clientes será un plus.
• Capacidad de adaptación a entornos de cambio rápido y actitud positiva hacia la transformación.
• Mentalidad emprendedora, con foco constante en innovación, buscando mejoras e impulsando eficiencia.
