Health & Safety Specialist

Unilabs is looking for a skilled Health & Safety Specialist to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will play a critical part in promoting a safe and healthy workplace while ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation. Your focus will be on developing effective policies, conducting training sessions, and overseeing safety interventions across our operations. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and enhance health and safety policies, plans, and programs tailored to our operational needs.
• Conduct workplace inspections and assessments to identify risks and implement corrective measures.
• Provide employee training and resources to increase awareness and adherence to safety practices.
• Monitor and audit safety practices to ensure compliance with legal standards and company policies.
• Investigate incidents and accidents, compile reports, and recommend measures to prevent future occurrences.
• Stay updated on the latest safety regulations, trends, and best practices to ensure continual improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create a culture of safety within the organization.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health, Safety Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a laboratory or healthcare setting.
• Solid understanding of relevant health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and develop effective solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with team members at all levels.
• Certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable.
• Fluent in both English and the local language, with excellent writing skills for documentation purposes.

Experience in developing safety training programs and conducting workshops is a plus.
