Lead AI Engineer

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an AI Engineer with AI Tech Lead capabilities to join the AI team of one of the leading retail companies in Europe. In this role, you'll help drive the technical direction of AI projects, support the data science team, and lead the AI Architecture and MLOps backlog to deliver scalable, production-ready AI solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced AI professional who enjoys combining hands-on development with technical leadership, architecture design and close collaboration with MLOps teams.

Location: Alcobendas, Madrid (Hybrid – 1 day onsite per week)
Start date: 01/09/2026

Mandatory:

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Artificial Intelligence.

• Strong experience developing Generative AI solutions, including full-code AI agents.

• Proven experience designing and defining AI Architecture for production environments.

• Solid experience working with MLOps and collaborating with DevOps teams.

• Experience acting as an AI Tech Lead, providing technical guidance and supporting AI and Data Science teams.

• Ability to define technical solutions and make architectural decisions for AI projects.

• Technical degree in Mathematics, Engineering or Telecommunications.

• Professional level of English.

Nice to have:

• Experience leading end-to-end AI projects from design to deployment.

• Experience working in cloud-based AI environments.

• Knowledge of scalable AI solution design and deployment best practices.

• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in Agile environments.

• Passion for mentoring, knowledge sharing and driving technical excellence within AI teams.
