The Role
Dow Jones is seeking a Manager for the global Automation & Reporting team to lead a group of skilled Technical Analysts dedicated to data insights. This team is responsible for building robust reporting capabilities, data models, and analytics solutions that help partners analyze high volumes of data across Dow Jones products.
As the Manager, you will oversee the development of full reporting and analytics solutions using SQL, Python, and modern Business Intelligence tools. You will be responsible for vetting team solutions, managing workload distribution, and mentoring analysts as they translate complex business requirements into high-impact visual deliverables and reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Manage and mentor a global team of Technical Analysts, fostering their professional growth and technical skills. Organize the development backlog, setting clear priorities and determining resource requirements.
- Technical Oversight & Solution Design: Propose and vet reporting solutions for optimal efficacy, ensuring they meet the high standards required for data processing and accuracy. Improve development standards, ensuring the team writes clean, readable code and highly optimized SQL queries.
- Dashboard & ETL Delivery: Oversee ETL development and the creation of dynamic visualization dashboards that support critical business processes and decision-making.
- Stakeholder & Project Management: Manage a portfolio of reporting solutions, communicating progress and blockers effectively to project sponsors and senior leadership. Balance tactical goals with a strategic focus, operating as a hands-on contributor when necessary to ensure project delivery.
Qualifications
- Essential Experience: 5+ years of dedicated experience in data analytics and reporting, with deep, hands-on proficiency in SQL and Python for data extraction, manipulation, and advanced analysis.
- Modern Cloud Data Warehousing: Strong practical experience working with modern cloud data warehouses, specifically GCP BigQuery and/or AWS Glue and Athena, to query and structure high volumes of data efficiently.
- Cloud Ecosystems & ETL/ELT: Experience designing or managing data processing workflows leveraging cloud services such as AWS (S3, Athena, Glue) and GCP (Cloud Storage). Familiarity with modern data transformation and orchestration tools (e.g., dbt, Apache Airflow) is highly preferred.
- Business Intelligence & Visualization: Proven expertise in translating complex datasets into actionable insights using enterprise BI platforms (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
- Delivery & Communication: Proven track record of delivering data projects through Agile practices. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical analysts and non-technical business stakeholders.
- Modern Tooling: Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and the adoption of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude) to enhance team productivity.

Base Pay Range: €55,000 - €70,000
