ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Manager of Referee Operations and Rules Development to oversee compliance, governance, and rule management, ensuring fairness and integrity in the game.

Main responsibilities:

1. Referee Operations:

• Oversee recruitment programs to identify and onboard high-quality referees.


• Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance referee performance.


• Evaluate referees regularly using game footage and performance data.


• Ensure consistency in officiating through ongoing education and workshops.

2. Technology Integration:

• Leverage advanced technologies such as AI and video analytics to improve officiating accuracy.


• Implement and manage replay systems and other decision-review tools.


• Analyze game trends to identify areas for rule improvement.

3. Rules Management:

• Update existing regulations to reflect the evolving needs of the league.


• Research and propose new rules to improve the quality and fairness of the game.


• Draft and distribute official rulebooks to ensure accessibility for all stakeholders.

4. Governance and Compliance:

• Establish and enforce compliance frameworks to ensure adherence to league standards.


• Monitor and resolve rule violations through disciplinary actions and transparent processes.


• Collaborate with internal and external legal teams to ensure compliance with broader regulatory requirements.

5. Stakeholder Communication:

• Act as the primary point of contact for rule-related inquiries from teams, players, and media.


• Deliver presentations and updates on governance policies to executives and other stakeholders.


• Coordinate with other departments to ensure alignment on compliance and rule enforcement.

Requirements 





• Extensive experience in football, with a strong background as a referee or in referee operations.


• In-depth knowledge of football regulations, rule enforcement, and VAR implementation.


• Proven experience in improving officiating systems, including the use of AI, video analytics, and replay technology to enhance game fairness.


• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and engage in committee discussions.


• Experience in developing and executing comprehensive referee training and performance evaluation programs.


• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders, including teams, players, and media.


• Degree in Sports Management, Law, or related field (preferred).
