Urban mobility shapes more than movement, it influences how people access opportunities, experience public space, participate in society and support their health and wellbeing. As cities seek to become more sustainable, resilient and liveable, the relationship between mobility and health is increasingly important in shaping policy, investment and innovation.  

As Mobility and Health Lead, you will shape one of EIT Urban Mobility’s five Priority Domains, strengthening the organisation’s strategic positioning at the intersection of mobility, health and urban transformation. Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Innovation, you will identify emerging trends, market opportunities and innovation priorities by leveraging insights generated across EIT Urban Mobility's unique ecosystem of cities, industry, start-ups, investors, universities and research organisations. Bringing together diverse perspectives and complementary expertise, you will turn this collective intelligence into strategic direction that strengthens EIT Urban Mobility's impact, influence and leadership across Europe. 

Key responsibilities: 

• Lead the development and continuous evolution of EIT Urban Mobility's strategic approach to Mobility and Health, identifying the highest impact opportunities to create healthier, safer and more inclusive and more liveable cities. 


• Curate and synthesise knowledge, market intelligence and practices from across EIT Urban Mobility’s ecosystem, including cities, start-ups, industry, research organisations, universities, Regional Innovation Hubs and internal teams.


• Analyse market trends, policy developments, city strategies and challenges and technological advances to identify emerging needs, innovation gaps and opportunities across the Health and Mobility domain.


• Translate market intelligence and ecosystem insights into recommendations that inform EIT Urban Mobility's programmes, strategic initiatives, partnerships and business opportunities.


• Develop and maintain EIT Urban Mobility's strategic roadmap for the domain, identifying where EIT Urban Mobility can create the greatest impact through innovation, investment, education, capacity building and strategic partnerships.  


• Work closely with the other Priority Domain Leads to identify cross cutting opportunities while providing domain leadership on active mobility, air quality, noise pollution, road safety and human centred urban environments. 


• Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to ensure the domain strategy is reflected in the organisation’s programmes, partnerships, educational and competence building activities, thought leadership and strategic initiatives.  


• Mobilise EIT Urban Mobility's ecosystem of cities, industry, start-ups, investors, universities and research organisations to address strategic challenges and accelerate innovation uptake.  


• Build strategic partnerships with organisations working at the intersection of mobility, health and urban development to strengthen EIT Urban Mobility's reach and impact.  


• Contribute to the design and steering of innovation programmes and strategic initiatives, ensuring strong alignment with the domain's priorities and long term strategic objectives.  


• Identify education and capacity building needs across the Mobility and Health domain, contributing to the development of learning activities that strengthen the capabilities of cities, practitioners and the wider innovation ecosystem.


• Curate the content of thought leadership studies, publications, workshops and flagship events related to Mobility & Health, ensuring they reflect emerging trends and strengthen EIT Urban Mobility's positioning in the domain.


• Work closely with the Strategic Positioning Lead to shape EIT Urban Mobility's messaging, thought leadership and strategic narratives related to Health and Mobility.


• Represent EIT Urban Mobility in relevant European initiatives, expert groups and strategic partnerships. 

What you will bring along the way: 

An ideal candidate will strive to generate positive environmental and social impact in line with EIT Urban Mobility’s mission. 

Must-have: 

• A Master's degree in Public Health, Urban Planning, Transport, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Economics, Public Policy or another relevant discipline.


• Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in urban mobility, public health, urban planning, consulting, innovation or strategy.


• Demonstrated expertise in the relationship between transport, mobility and health, with experience in one or more of the following areas: active mobility, air quality, noise pollution, road safety, accessibility, healthy ageing or healthy urban environments.


• Strong understanding of the European urban mobility ecosystem and the opportunities and challenges associated with creating healthier, safer and more liveable cities.


• Proven ability to develop strategic partnerships and engage effectively with cities, public authorities, industry, research organisations and international organisations.


• Experience translating market intelligence, policy developments and ecosystem insights into strategic recommendations and implementation plans.


• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (C1 level or above), both written and spoken.


• Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.


• Experience managing strategic initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and disciplines.


• Self-starter with a hands on attitude, comfortable operating in multidisciplinary environments and turning knowledge into strategic action. 

Nice-to-have: 

• Experience in health impact assessment, healthy urban planning, sustainable mobility or behavioural change.


• Experience working in or with European institutions, international organisations or EU funded programmes.


• Established professional network across the European mobility, health or urban innovation ecosystem.


• Experience contributing to strategic studies, thought leadership or executive level publications.


• Any additional European language is an asset.

Kindly note that this is a permanent and full-time position and it is based in Barcelona, Spain.

Possibility to homework 2 days a week.
