About the role
As an On-Set Art Director at Dragons Group, you’ll be responsible for bringing creative concepts to life on set and making sure the final visual outcome lives up to the idea.
You’ll work across still photography, video productions, social and digital content, and events, collaborating closely with Creative Directors, Art Directors, photographers, directors, producers, stylists, set designers and other production partners.
You’ll be the person with a strong eye on the ground — making sure every detail works visually, from composition, lighting and styling to props, backgrounds, talent and overall atmosphere. You’ll know how to make creative decisions quickly, solve problems on set and keep the production moving without losing sight of the original idea.
This is a role for someone who is highly visual, hands-on and confident on set, with the ability to collaborate with different teams and turn creative direction into strong, polished imagery.
Key responsibilities
· Own the visual execution on set, ensuring the final images and videos reflect the creative concept and meet the expected quality.
· Help prepare shoots by developing moodboards, references, shot ideas, visual treatments and production requirements.
· Supervise the postproduction of still images and video content.
· Work across photo shoots, video productions, social content, digital campaigns and events, adapting your approach to different formats and environments.
· Collaborate with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Photographers, Producers, Designers, Video Editors and other creative partners to translate ideas into practical on-set decisions.
· Oversee visual details including composition, framing, styling, props, set design, backgrounds, talent and overall atmosphere.
· Work closely with photographers, DOPs and lighting teams to achieve the desired visual language, mood and aesthetic.
· Review shots and footage during production, identifying issues and making real-time creative adjustments where needed.
· Help prepare shoots by developing moodboards, references, shot ideas, visual treatments and production requirements.
· Source and brief external suppliers, stylists, set designers, photographers and other creative collaborators when required.
· Be proactive in solving creative and practical challenges on set, finding solutions without compromising the quality of the work.
· Stay curious about visual trends, new production techniques, AI tools and emerging ways of creating content, bringing fresh ideas to our productions.
Requirements
· Proven experience as an Art Director, On-Set Art Director, Production Designer or similar role, ideally within advertising, production, editorial, fashion, lifestyle or branded content.
· A strong visual eye and a clear understanding of composition, colour, lighting, styling, materials and visual storytelling.
· Hands-on experience working on professional photo and video shoots and understanding how a production works from pre-production through to final delivery.
· Comfortable making quick creative decisions on set and adapting when things don't go according to plan.
· Experience collaborating with photographers, directors, DOPs, stylists, producers and creative teams.
· Strong ability to translate a creative concept or moodboard into a clear and achievable visual result.
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the confidence to challenge ideas and defend the visual quality of the work when needed.
· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, while remaining flexible in a fast-paced production environment.
