Accountant (m/f/d/)

As an Accountant at METRO Markets Palma, you will be part of a dynamic, international team, with our headquarters located in Düsseldorf, Germany. This role offers a great opportunity to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment where you can help shape and build our accounting processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

• General accounting activities, including bookkeeping for multiple legal entities (both national and international).
• Month-end and quarter-end closings in accordance with IFRS and Spanish GAAP.
• Preparation of consolidated financial statements.
• Monthly VAT submission and reconciliation.
• Performing accounting-related analyses and reconciliations.
• Supporting internal and external audits.
• Liaising with external accounting partners to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Additionally, you will be responsible for the accounting of a small warehouse operation based in Italy. This includes overseeing daily financial tasks such as payment runs, employee expense payments, and coordination with the external accounting firm to ensure timely monthly closings. For this entity, only IFRS-based accounting is required, and knowledge of the Italian language is not necessary.

• 2–3 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within the retail or e-commerce sector.
• Proficiency in SAP, ALTAI, MS Excel, or other relevant accounting systems.
• Strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Spanish.
