We work with many of the world’s top multinational corporations, law firms, banks and private equity firms on their most important issues to deliver impact that makes a difference. From resolving disputes, navigating crises, managing risk and optimizing performance, our teams respond rapidly to dynamic and complex situations.

At FTI Consulting, you’ll work side-by side with leaders who have shaped history, helping solve the biggest challenges making headlines today. From day one, you’ll be an integral part of a focused team where you can make a real impact. You’ll be surrounded by an open, collaborative culture that embraces diversity, recognition, professional development and, most importantly, you.

Are you ready to make your impact?

About the Role

FTI Consulting Madrid is seeking a Director/Senior Director to join its EU Public Affairs team. The ideal candidate will have extensive public affairs experience and a deep understanding of EU regulatory initiatives and policy developments, ideally across TMT, Financial Services, and/or the broader geopolitical landscape.

In this role, you will provide strategic guidance to clients on complex public policy and communications challenges, designing and delivering innovative programs in close collaboration with colleagues. Beyond client-facing responsibilities, you will oversee multiple workstreams, mentor and develop junior team members, and play a proactive role in business development by strengthening existing client relationships and identifying new opportunities for growth.

What You'll Do

  • Client delivery: Provide strategic advice to a portfolio of clients, manage accounts on a day-to-day basis, and build strong relationships with client stakeholders. Take ownership of relationships by creatively designing and delivering impactful campaigns.
  • Business development: Proactively identify new business opportunities and collaborate with colleagues on activities such as pitch preparation and delivery.
  • Team leadership: Provide project line management for team members working on your accounts, while sharing knowledge and mentoring junior colleagues to support their growth.
  • Networking: Actively engage with EU stakeholders, policymakers, and potential clients to expand and strengthen your professional network.

How You'll Grow

You will have the opportunity to work in some of the most challenging and fascinating public policy issues currently being tackled in Europe. You will have the opportunity to lead or take a leading role in a range of substantial client accounts and business development project, expanding your strategic acumen and commercial drive and skillset. As a senior member of the team, you will be able to further develop your ability to develop, motivate and support the growth of team members.

You will be part of a dynamic and multinational team of experts and you will be able to work closely with other FTI offices and segments – expanding your personal insight and contacts within our global network, covering the full suite of business and management consulting professionals.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong academic background.
  • At least 10 years of experience in consultancy, in-house roles, trade associations, public institutions, or advising clients on policy and communications matters. Candidates with primarily marketing or communications experience will not be considered.
  • Demonstrated expertise in public affairs, advocacy, and issues/reputation management, ideally within the TMT sector.
  • Deep understanding of the EU policy-making process, with hands-on experience engaging policymakers and stakeholders in Brussels and national capitals to advance strategic objectives.
  • Excellent command of English; proficiency in one or more additional languages is a plus.
