Descripción del trabajo - Senior Embedded Software Engineer

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and testing of embedded systems (hardware, firmware) and develop firmware to be executed on the designed hardware. The Embedded Software Engineer develops (automated) unit, integration, and verification test setups and test cases.

You will be at the forefront of bringing advanced healthcare solutions to market, making a tangible difference in people´s lives worldwide.
Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the development team in translating overall system requirements into embedded system (electronics and software) requirements and interface definitions.
  • Assess the technical feasibility and contribute to the technical concepts.
  • Support establishing the embedded hardware and firmware architecture design and decomposing the embedded system into lower-level building blocks.
  • Set up the embedded development landscape, in the internal development teams.
  • Use Agile and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) principles, to maximize quality, performance, and effectiveness.
  • Design embedded systems and develop the firmware.
  • Perform functional analysis and create system designs that meet the requirements.
  • Develop automated and manual tests, to characterize and verify embedded systems.
  • Apply applicable standards and guidelines (e.g., ISO62304, ISO60601, ISO14971).
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, verification, and reports.
  • Create verification plans for electronics & embedded firmware products and manufacturing requirements.
  • Perform system integration, verification, and validation. Maintain traceability between requirements and test records/reports.
  • Good laboratory practices qualify/validate, and maintain tools and equipment.
  • Contribute to configuration management.
  • Contribute to technical reviews, contribute to design reviews and milestone reviews.
  • Generate intellectual property.
  • Understand DFR/DFM/DFT (Design for Reliability, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Test), including concept engineering, modeling, analysis, sensitivity, and stress analysis.
  • Work intensively with Quality, Regulatory, Clinical and Project Management on the formal product development processes, and perform design and phase reviews.


Mandatory Qualifications and Soft skills:

  • Relevant industry experience of at least 5 years, preferably in active (implantable) medical devices, or in another highly regulated environment (e.g., defense, aeronautics, automotive).
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Fluent in English oral and written (company language).
  • Strong engineering background, e.g., electronics, software (Embedded), mechatronics, computer science.
  • Familiar with scrum and agile methodology and tools (e.g., Jira.)
  • Familiar with electronic simulation and design methodologies and tools (e.g., Cadence, PSPice, Altium, etc.)
  • Familiar with communication busses and protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
  • Familiar with programming languages (e.g., C, C++, Python, VHDL, etc.)
  • Familiar with software build and test infrastructures (e.g., Jenkins, GIT, Cucumber, Make, GCC, etc.)
  • A system thinker, able to identify areas of potential improvement and develop plans to execute the improvements.
  • High-energy, self-motivated, and proactive. Able to work in an international and diverse team in a start-up company.
  • Familiar with applying agile processes, continuous development, continuous integration, and test automation.
  • A flexible, service-minded colleague with good analytical skills, reliable, pragmatic, and result-driven.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.

  • Spanish is a plus.
