POSITION: Upper School College & Career Counselor

STARTING DATE: During the academic year 2025-2026, or August 2026

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supporting students from Grades 9-12 with
  
  
  
  • Program development and delivery to students from 9th to 12th grade
  
  
  • Meeting with 10th-grade students to plan for their transition to 11th grade in the context of course selection aligned with post-graduation plans
  
  
  • Acting as an academic advisor for students in grades 9 to 12
  
  
  • Developing post-graduation plans for college/ university and other post-graduation opportunities
  
  
  • Processing post-secondary student applications
  
  
  
  


• Presenting to the parent community on all aspects of the post-graduation planning process at ASM


• Continued development of the College & Career Planning Curriculum


• Delivery of the College & Career Planning Curriculum to students


• Perform data analysis related to college counseling and present said data to specific stakeholders when required


• Management and development of university visits and fairs


• Establish professional networks within the international counseling community


• Establish professional networks within the Higher Education global community


• Organizing and participating in university fact-finding and relationship-building tours to universities


• Attending appropriate college fairs and conferences, including but not limited to, IACAC during the summer vacation


• Act as a contributing member of the Student Study Team


• Collaborates with the Upper School Director and IB DP Coordinator on processing final results and supporting students through the process of receiving results and gaining places in universities. IB Diploma Programme students require this support during the summer vacation.


• Support the broader work of the College and Careers Department as required by the Upper School Director.


• Overseeing the organization and processing of standardized testing, such as the College Board SATs
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

• Appropriate qualifications in the area of College and Career Advising


• Significant experience in College and Career advising, either in the school environment or from the university admission perspective


• Experience with university admissions practices in the US, UK, and Europe. Additional geographical experiences are an advantage in the recruitment process.


• Experience with and understanding of the IB Diploma Programme

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Working hours: 8:45 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. (some additional time required for after-school informational events and standardized testing on weekends)
