Business Project Controller

The Heat business within Business Area (BA) Customers & Solutions develops, operates, maintains and optimizes the full value chain of heating and cooling networks and efficient heat and power production to serve customers and society with reliable heat and electricity in the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom. We aim to grow by delighting our customers and being a preferred partner to cities and other stakeholders. We strive to provide efficient, climate-friendly solutions to the energy transition. The BA Business Control department is, amongst others, responsible for supporting the Business Area with suitable steering models, business analyses and financial management information, in close cooperation with the management team of the BA and controlling departments of the business units. In order to drive, coordinate and execute the financial processes, a strong cooperation with the operational departments and staff functions (like Group Finance, HR, Asset Management, Business Development and Procurement) is necessary. This contributes to a dynamic and diversified working environment.

Your job as Business Controller

As Business Controller for Operational Unit (OU) Projects you will be responsible to develop and support Projects in relation to all Finance and Controlling related matters by acting as a financial business partner. To drive business planning and coordinate and execute the investment planning process, a strong cooperation between both operational and staff functions is necessary. This contributes to a dynamic and diversified working environment.

Your main responsibilities

• Provide departments and project managers within the OU with relevant reliable financial information, business analysis and proactively support and challenge your colleagues to reach business objectives;
• Support the controlling team in analyzing business performance, identifying improvement opportunities and corrective actions and driving performance;
• Steer the business planning process including target setting, follow-up through reporting with a focus on the gaps between realization and targets, forecasting and corrective measures to meet plan;
• Support investment planning, portfolio value analysis, legal reporting requirements;
• Participate in the monthly management reporting process.

• Experience in a similar position;
• Strong financial and analytical skills;
• Experience in investment environments and project controlling;
• Knowledge and experience with consolidation software (Cognos, other) and SAP;
• Experience in driving and coordinating improvements of controlling processes;
• A strong command of English, both verbally and written.
