Job Description - Quality Engineer - Quality Control Lab

Quality Engineer - Quality Control Lab We are building a state-of-the-art Gigafactory that will be one of the largest battery cell production facilities in Europe. We are continuing to build our team of highly skilled Quality Engineers who will play a key role throughout the entire project lifecycle from inception through to production. Volvo Cars is one of the most well-known and respected car brands in the world. Northvolt is a leading supplier of sustainable, high-quality battery cells and systems, dedicated to delivering the world’s greenest lithium-ion battery. Together, we have formed a joint venture, NOVO Energy, to power the next generation of pure electric Volvo cars. What you will do: The factory will have a fully equipped Quality Control Lab, capable of performing a variety of analysis. As Quality Engineer working in the Quality Control Labs, you are a member of the lab team, reporting to the Manager of the lab. In your role, you will secure that products produced in the NOVO Energy plant comply to standards and specification, and by that meet customer product requirements and legislation. We are looking for Engineers for the Mechanical and Imaging section of the QC Lab. Key responsibilities will include: (but are not limited to) - Define, implement and continuously improve methods, tools and equipment in the QC lab. - Define and implement QMS in the lab area. Perform internal audits. - Create training material and provide training to the team in quality topics. - Be the owner of the equipment in the lab area, including the maintenance and calibration plans. - Lead team activities such as planning, method development, problem solving and continuous improvements. Skills & Requirements: - University degree in engineering and working experience within quality in a laboratory environment. - Knowledge in Mechanical or Imaging Quality Control Methods and equipment. For example:

  • CT scanning, CMM
  • SEM, Microscopy, Tensile test
  • Knowledge in problem solving methods & tools; 8D and 6 sigma (green belt level).
  • Excellent English skills – written and oral

You are execution oriented and able to solve complex problems, as well as organize teams and competences on short notice. You have a high level of integrity, also under pressure, and are able to efficiently sort and prioritize between tasks. Our Gigafactory in Gothenburg will be one of the largest cell production facilities in Europe, with a potential annual cell production capacity of up to 50 gigawatt hours (GWh) - thereby enabling a supply of batteries for approximately half a million Volvo cars per year.
