The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is an institution with a strong focus on basic research. The research groups are organized according to two thematic programs: Developmental and stem Cell Biology and Cell Biology. CMB conducts research and teaching in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer, and infection biology.

We are seeking dedicated and highly qualified person to support our informatics research and teaching, focusing on the relationship between chromosome structure and biological function.

Your mission

The successful candidate will work with informatics analysis of genomes and chromosome structures and be engaged in basic informatics- and biology education. The candidate will also participate in the management of the study’s overall progress. Other included tasks are research development, management of personnel within the team, fundraising, and promotion of internationalization at the university level. When called upon,the candidate should also actively participate in other departmental activities.

Eligibility requirements

To be considered for the position, the applicant must have a Ph.D. in systems engineering and documented experience in genome analysis and informatics education. The applicant should have experience from previous informatics and genome analysis in a company or at a university and must have participated in student education. Furthermore, the applicant must have succeeded in obtaining educational or research-related external funding and have experience from internationalization processes at the university level.

To be eligible for employment as a Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated research expertise as well as have documented research experience after defending their doctoral dissertation.

An ability to communicate in Japanese is considered and asset since part of this research will be conducted in collaboration with Japanese researchers. Experience in managing laboratory computing equipment is also considered especially meritorious.

Experience from organization committees of national and international conferences and seminar series, and from outreach activities, are considered advantageous.
