We are looking for a R&D Engineer. Your main task is mechanical design of traction motors within our R&D projects. In the beginning you will be guided by a senior engineer in each project, but we expect that you want and are able to become more and more independent. Our product development for rail and e-mobility is growing and you may soon have new colleagues that need your guidance and support.

You will also be involved in mechanical conceptual design for quotations, including supporting sales in customer interactions.

Your responsibilities

• Mechanical design of electric motors in global product development projects.
• Mechanical design in global and local product maintenance.
• Take part in prototype manufacturing and mechanical testing, internal and external.
• Prepare relevant technical documentation, drawings, design reports, user manual etc.
• Work with Manufacturing and Quality to achieve quality, reliability and manufacturability targets.
• Work with Supply management and suppliers to make cost efficient design of components included in our products.
• Sometimes travel to other ABB units or customers for meetings.

Your background

• A university degree in Engineering, specializing in product development and mechanical design.
• Good knowledge of 3D CAD tools, e.g Solid Works, Creo and NX.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken alike, whereas knowledge of Swedish is preferred.
• Minimum two years of work experience, preferably in vehicle industry, working as design or development engineer with rotating machines, gear boxes or complete drivelines.
• Preferably good knowledge of mechanical analysis using Finite Element Method and Computational Fluid Dynamics.
• High level of cooperation skills with different people and cultures.
• Strong team spirit, individual and structured leadership to deliver expected results on time, on budget and with high quality.
