Post-doctoral researcher in IoT-based security for critical infrastructure Published: 2024-03-25 Electrification and digitalisation are among the largest areas for the future in the conversion to sustainable societies. The Department of Electrical Engineering conducts successful research and education in these areas - renewable energy sources, electric vehicles, industrial IoT, 5G/6G communication, machine learning and wireless sensor networks as well as smart electronic sensors and biomedical systems. The Department of Electrical Engineering is an international workplace with around 160 employees that all contribute to important technical energy and health challenges at the Ångström Laboratory. Project description Today’s society is dependent on infrastructure such as the electricity grid, communication networks or transport infrastructure. Thus, it is crucial that such critial infrastructure is protected against sabotage both physically – and in conjunction with digitalisation of infrastructure – digitally. In this project, we investigate the use of IoT (internet of things)-based solutions to mitigate sabotage and intrusion in critical infrastructure. At the department of Electrical Engineering you will find a stimulating and international work environment with many interesting projects. Duties The main duties are to conduct research in security of critical infrastructure with the help of IoT-based solutions and, for example, distributed machine learning methods. The tasks include design, implementation and analysis of solutions as well as publication of the research results at conferences and in journals. The duties may also include teaching (max. 20 %) and contributing to the design of a lab for demonstrating cybersecurity. Requirements The applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree or a foreign degree equivalent ot a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, engineering physics, or computer science. The degree needs to be obtained by the time of the decision of employment. Those who have obtained a PhD degree three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered for the employment. The starting point of the three-year frame period is the application deadline. Due to special circumstances, the degree may have been obtained earlier. The three-year period can be extended due to circumstances such as sick leave, parental leave, duties in labour unions, etc. Experience in at least one of the following or related areas: Sensor networks and IoT, distributed machine learning, (cyber)security for critical infrastructure, anomaly detection, or secrity of smart grids. Experience in programming. Very good oral and written proficiency in English. We emphasise personal qualities such as good collaboration and communication skills with other researchers and research groups. You should be purposeful, structured, and able to work effectively both individually and in groups. Good oral and written proficiency in Swedish.
