MacGregor is a leader in sustainable maritime cargo and load handling with a strong portfolio of products, services and solutions. Shipbuilders, shipowners and operators are able to optimise the lifetime profitability, safety, reliability and environmental sustainability of their operations by working in close cooperation with MacGregor.

We're looking for a Sales Engineer who will be responsible for providing system designs that live up to expectations from customers and class for the LMS crane- respectively deck machinery and steering gears product portfolio. This person will also be responsible for preparing cost estimates and technical specifications.

The position will be based in Örnsköldsvik, Hamburg or other MacGregor locations.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide value added system designs for the ship owners and shipyards
  • Produce technical specifications (Technical Documents, GA-drawings Technical Specification, etc)
  • Actively take initiative to hand-over activities to LMS order fulfilment, following agreed procedures
  • Participate in customer visits 
  • Engage directly in discussions with representatives from customers on technical issues
  • Participate in development work with design institutes on request
  • Maintain a deep technical knowledge of products for specific ship type/ product offering.
  • Communicate relevant information from customers to R&D, Engineering and Sourcing
  • Facilitate cooperation with Area Sales functions, ensuring optimal processes
  • Conforming to the Cargotec Code of Conduct, QEHS Policies and Processes of MacGregor as well as requirements of ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001

What you’ll need to succeed

  • BSc in technical engineering with a degree in mechanics, electrical or electronics engineering
  • Experience with design and cost estimates
  • Able to make decisions on technology issues independently
  • Good knowledge of engineering software
  • Structured, analytical, self going
  • Fluent in English, spoken and written
  • Good knowledge of quality systems (ISO, OHSAS, etc)
