Are you ready to take a leading role in shaping the future of next-generation battery technology? At Lyten, we are looking for a Director of Test & Validation who will drive the development of a world-class in-house testing capability while unlocking new opportunities for external business growth.
In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for building and positioning our test and validation function as a high-performing internal test center. You will lead and inspire a skilled test & validation team, ensuring robust evaluation of both in-house and external battery cells and their components throughout the full development lifecycle – from early prototyping to full-scale production of Li-ion and Li-S technologies. You will play a critical part in ensuring performance, quality, and reliability, while also identifying opportunities to expand our testing capabilities into a commercially viable offering.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to)
Develop and execute comprehensive validation strategies for new battery cell designs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop and establish testing as a service and lead the business model development and build relevant partnerships and customer relationships. Complete responsibility on the business of P&L in the respective area.
Create detailed test plans encompassing electrical, mechanical, thermal, and safety performance testing to validate battery cell designs and manufacturing processes.
Lead and oversee the execution of validation tests, including coordinating test setups, data collection, analysis, and interpretation to validate design assumptions and manufacturing capabilities.
Support in analyzing validation of test data to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement. Work closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
Prepare detailed validation reports to summarize test results, conclusions, and recommendations for design modifications or process improvements. Ensure compliance with documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate closely with different sites and functions in the company; R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment of validation activities with product requirements and manufacturing processes for internal and external customers.
Identify potential risks to product quality, reliability, or safety during validation activities and work proactively to mitigate these risks through appropriate testing and analysis.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in validation processes to enable profitable business with possible external partners.
Drive the development of methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineers and cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.
Requirements
Educational background and previous experience for the role.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience designing and executing test plans to integrate, verify and validate product performance and robustness
Bachelor's or higher degree in the relevant field of study
+2 years of professional automotive experience
Advanced knowledge of automated testing tools and best practices
Experience in testing cloud technologies / platforms
Excellent interpersonal skills
Prior experience/participation in regulatory audits is preferred
Specific skills
Very good knowledge of English (written and spoken) is essential
Ability to work in highly dynamic environment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and PMBOK project management practices
Strongly detail-oriented and self-organized
Strong knowledge of Lithium-based battery cells and battery systems
Advanced knowledge of CAD software
Demonstrated ability to understand and successfully work across multiple disciplines such as engineering, software and manufacturing is highly desired.
