We are looking for an experienced Environment Artist to join our team and help us create a new atmospheric and visually stunning sci-fi world.
In this role you will be an important part of developing the look of the environments by taking them from whitebox stage to final quality. We are looking for someone who can own and take responsibility for large areas of the environments in the game, and work in collaboration with the rest of the art team to deliver a wide range of exciting locations for the player to explore.
This is a full-time position based in Malmö Sweden.
Responsibilities:
Build believable and visually appealing environments according to concepts, reference images and art direction
Create high quality environment assets in line with the project’s artistic and technical direction
Respond to and implement changes according to received feedback
Plan and estimate distribution of work across larger scenes to make informed decisions on what work to prioritize
Ensure the technical delivery of your work taking relevant memory and performance restrictions into consideration
Work collaboratively with the team to ensure artistic consistency and help achieve the overall vision for the game
Qualifications:
Proven experience working in the video games industry. Preferably you should have experience of multiple game development cycles.
A strong portfolio demonstrating full environment work including modeling, texturing, set dressing and lighting. Ideally your portfolio includes sci-fi environments with a more detailed/realistic style.
Experience creating detailed/realistic set pieces, props, textures, and materials on next gen platforms
Experience with Unreal Engine 4/5 and strong technical understanding of game engines and performance optimization
Excellent time management and prioritization skills and the ability to work with an iterative approach in visual development
Team player with a professional attitude and work ethic
Proficient verbal and written communication skills (English)
Will be a plus:
Your portfolio includes sci-fi environments and/or dark atmospheric work
Experience working on games with a top-down perspective
You have good understanding of gameplay and level design
You are passionate about games and enjoy playing action adventure- and Metroidvania type of games
You are a fan of dark sci-fi such as Alien, Blade Runner and The Thing, and futuristic anime such as Ghost in the Shell, Akira and Blame
