What this job actually looks like

Last year, this role meant migrating a government customer from Docker Compose to Kubernetes and standing up self-hosted LLM inference on their own GPUs. The cluster had no outbound internet access, security policies blocked most of the standard tooling, and our primary contact on the customer side wasn't technical. There was no runbook, no precedent, and no one else to call. The FDE mapped the environment, worked around every constraint, and got it running.

That's the job. Most AI companies talk about impact. Here you'll see it: in production, in secure environments, at organizations that can't afford failure. It's the kind of work most engineers never get near.

Intric builds the infrastructure for trusted AI in the public sector and regulated industries across Europe: organizations with real data sovereignty requirements, real security constraints, and real consequences if things go wrong. As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you're the person who makes the platform work in practice.

About the role

You'll be on-site at customer locations most of the time. Up to 80% of your work happens in their environments, alongside their technical teams, primarily across Sweden with some cross-European travel as projects require. You learn their systems, integrate the platform, and own the outcome from the first sales conversation through go-live and beyond.

The environment spans Python, Kubernetes, Helm, ArgoCD, self-hosted LLMs, and Svelte. You won't use all of it on every project, but you need to move across the stack as the situation demands. You use AI tools well and quickly, but your value is the judgment behind them: knowing what to build, how to prioritize, and when to push back.

Your default is finding the path, not describing the obstacle. Sometimes that means telling a customer that what they're asking for is the wrong thing to build. Both are part of the job.

What you'll do

• Prioritize ruthlessly across competing demands, from a position of knowledge rather than whoever is loudest

• Turn ambiguous requirements into production-grade solutions customers rely on daily

• Build integrations across APIs, authentication systems, data pipelines, and document platforms

• Debug what no one else can figure out, in environments with limited tooling and high constraints

• Deploy Intric in on-prem and private cloud environments with strict security requirements

• Be the technical owner within customer engagements, working alongside sales and customer success from pre-sales through go-live

• Feed real-world deployment insights back to Product and Engineering, shaping the roadmap

Who you are and what you bring

You've shipped things that other people depend on. You've been on-call when they broke. You've dealt with real production risk, real failure, and end-to-end ownership without a safety net. That background is what makes the rest of this possible.

• You work across the full stack without needing to hand off: frontend, backend, infrastructure, AI layer, GitOps, networking, protocols, raw API work

• You take ownership of customer outcomes, not individual tasks. If the customer isn't reaching their goal, that's your problem to solve

• You can say no to the wrong thing and yes to the right one, even under pressure from the customer

• You can explain a technical decision to a department manager and defend it to their engineers, often in the same meeting

• You're effective in ambiguous, underdocumented, high-constraint environments

Swedish and English are both required for this role. Additional European languages are a plus.

Relevant background: implementation engineering, solutions engineering, DevOps, technical consulting, or similar roles where you've owned delivery end to end in customer environments.
