Junior Industrial Designer

Above is currently looking for a talented Junior Industrial Designer to join our creative team based in our Malmö studio. This is a permanent full-time role, and available immediately. We are further open to receiving applications from intermediate-level designers, and able to adjust the role accordingly.


Job Description
As an Industrial Designer at Above, you will get the opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary project teams on a wide variety of cutting-edge design & innovation projects for some of the world's most exciting brands.

Once here, you will be an integral part of our design team, and have the opportunity to proactively contribute to all stages of the design process, from research to concept definition, from hands-on prototyping to crafting compelling visualisations and strategic narratives. With a high-level of conceptual thinking, you will have direct impact in shaping excellent project deliveries through craft and creativity. You will get the chance to drive smaller engagements independently, and often integrate into larger projects as part of diverse, cross-functional teams - acting as an ambassador of the industrial design discipline while collaborating with senior colleagues.



Our work is exciting and diverse in nature, spanning high-volume consumer products, smart home devices, furniture, robotics, future mobility experiences, progressive healthcare solutions, packaging and many more. We create impact across all levels and horizons - from category-defining hero products to multi-dimensional portfolio strategies and shaping compelling future visions alike.



What we are looking for
We are looking for inspiring, forward-thinking portfolios that display a progressive approach to industrial design and creativity, and believe you possess many of these qualities to excel in this role: 


• Preferably 1-2 years of professional experience, and familiarity with fast-paced agency environments / workflows



• Ability to proactively navigate and structure the design process, while applying the right tools and fidelity at any given stage



• Refined aesthetic sensibility and visual culture in harmony with a thoughtful, user-centered approach to design



• Strong conceptualisation skills and critical-thinking abilities



• Fluid software toolbox, including CAD surfacing skills (Rhino or Solidworks preferred) and high-impact render & visualisation output. Other CAD, generative AI tools & advanced visualisation platforms are considered a bonus



• A humble, self-propelled and collaborative team player that feels at home in multi-competence project constellations



• Ability to clearly visualise and communicate ideas and thought-processes to peers and clients alike, pushing strong storytelling



• Problem solver with a hands-on prototyping mindset, knowing when to leave the digital space to explore and validate physically



• Understanding of materiality & design for manufacturing
