You get instant help with deliveries, shopping, moves and recycling of items of any size. This way we help users cope with everyday logistics while providing an important source of extra income for others. By decreasing the number of cars on the road and increasing reuse and recycle rates, we directly contribute to reducing the environmental impact in the cities where we operate. In 2021, Tiptapp’s platform paid out 7 Million Euros to helping users, saved an estimated 1,334 tonnes of CO2 emissions through fewer car rides and gave 40,000 reusable items a new home.

Tiptapp launched in Stockholm in 2016 and is backed by investors that have previously built and backed leading European tech companies like Spotify, Avito, Klarna, and Revolut. We operate across Sweden, London, Berlin and Lisbon with +300,000 users and have been growing quickly since the start. We are now a profitable company and are preparing for rapid international expansion.

We are looking for a Lead Android Developer

We would like our new team mate to have a deep passion for Android development, eager to take on both technical and strategic challenges as part of a collaborative and fun start-up journey. While we appreciate skill, talent, and experience, we place even greater value on a proactive mindset, a fearless approach to challenges, and a strong desire to learn and grow with us. We offer a unique opportunity to take the lead on our Android platform, owning its technical direction, architecture, and user experience in close collaboration with our developers and other key roles. In this role, you'll not only drive the development forward but also act as a product owner for the Android domain, helping shape what we build and how we build it as we scale internationally.

Metamorphosis

We are currently transitioning our Android app from React Native into Kotlin. So, there are still many clean slates that are waiting to be architected and constructed in native code. For the right developer this is a huge opportunity to lay down a new solid foundation for a thriving international market place service. The team will help you to gradually get up to speed and to grow into the platform, as we together establish our future Android app.

What it is like to work at Tiptapp

• We have a collaborative decision making process with lots of workshops.
  
• Our processes and our software are set up for remote work. But if you are in the Stockholm area, we have also some space at Helios. Barring some occasional visit to HQ, you can be 100% remote. We currently have a hybrid team where some are fully remote, some go to our shared office a few days a week.
• Working hours are mostly flexible, but we have some synchronous work around 10–15 CET, so your timezone should not be too far off.
• We take a yearly trip together (optional of course, but fun!).

We are a remote-first company and offer all employees the possibility to use a co-working space at their convenience. 

Who we are looking for

We would like to get in touch with developers who:

• have solid knowledge of mobile app development,
• have 3+ years of experience with native development on Android (Kotlin),
• have a proven track record of taking full responsibility of a platform

Even better if you have:

• hands on experience with React Native,
• good skills in JavaScript (ES6+),
• experience with Node.js, MongoDB and/or AWS,
• a passion for UX / design.
