KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Technical Leadership & Execution

• Lead the end-to-end technical implementation of Integrated IT-OT convergence projects jointly with the business (e.g., sensor-to-private cloud data pipelines, SCADA modernization, IIoT deployments).


• Manage the Integrated IT-OT engineering tasks including the backlog.


• Managing the resources to meet Integrated IT-OT project milestones and operational tasks.


• Provide hands-on technical guidance to the team on integration patterns, code reviews, configuration, and troubleshooting of Integrated IT-OT devices and systems.


• Responsible for all Integrated IT-OT engineering work adheres to the defined architecture, security policies, and coding standards.


• Advisory role for the development and configuration of integration components: OPC UA servers, MQTT brokers, edge applications, API connectors, and data transformation logic.

Team Leadership & Development

• Provide leadership and mentorship to the fusion engineering team comprising of OT automation engineers, IT software developers and data engineers.


• Identify Integrated IT-OT skill gaps and coordinate training and upskilling initiatives for the team (e.g., OT engineers on Python, IT developers on Modbus).


• Managing a team of 4-8 person and develop a clear resource roadmap including the career path.


• Foster a collaborative culture, bridging the cultural and technical gap between IT and OT team members.

Project & Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate closely with Project Managers to define technical solutions and scope, timelines, dependencies, and resource requirements.


• Lead the technical implementation with alignment with the business to minimize the impact and reduce operational downtime.


• Periodic report on technical progress, risks, and issues to the Integrated IT-OT Center of Excellence.

Quality, Security, & Compliance

• Establish and enforce engineering best practices for version control (Git), CI/CD (where applicable), and documentation.


• Lead the system integration testing (SIT) and support user acceptance testing (UAT) with Integrated IT-OT operation team and business.


• Ensure all implemented solutions meet security requirements (e.g., data encryption, access controls) and compliance standards (IEC 62443).


• Develop and maintain detailed as-built documentation and runbooks for Integrated IT-OT operational support.

CHALLENGES OF THE JOB:

• The Integrated IT-OT Engineering Manager is a pivotal role within the IT-OT Convergence Center of Excellence (CoE), responsible for driving the technical design, integration, and deployment of solutions that unify Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems.


• This role combines engineering expertise in both domains to enable seamless data flow, automation, and innovation while ensuring reliability, security, and scalability. The Integrated IT-OT Engineering Manager oversees cross-functional engineering teams, bridging the gap between IT software/cloud platforms and OT hardware/industrial systems (e.g., SCADA, PLCs, IoT sensors).

QUALIFICATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or any other equivalent majors.

    1. Technical: AWS Certified Developer/Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure IoT Developer, data center hosting and cloud related certifications, data networking related certification, cyber security related certifications.

• Good Hands-On OT Expertise:

    1. Protocols: Must have deep, practical experience with OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP/IP, and others.
    
    
    2. Systems: Must have hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting PLCs, DCS/SCADA/HMI systems, and network devices.
    
    
    
    
  
  
  
  

• Deep Hands-On IT Expertise:

    1. Proven technical leadership track record in managing integrated end to end networking environment that consists of network routing, switching, security and telecommunications, with a minimum of 10 years experience.
    
    
    2. Cloud & Data: experience data center infrastructure setup, with cloud IoT platforms ( AWS IoT Greengrass/Azure IoT Edge), IoT Hub, and data services (Time Series Insights, Kinesis).
    
    
    3. APIs & DevOps: Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and familiarity with DevOps principles and tools is a plus.
    
    
    4. Programming/Scripting: High proficiency in Python (paramount) for building integrations and automation. Knowledge of Java, C#, or Node.js is a plus.
    
    
    
    
  
  
  
  

• Security Mindset: Practical understanding of OT security practices (network segmentation, hardening).


• Project Management: Experience with Agile/Scrum/ITIL methodologies with, PMP or PRINCE2 is a plus.


• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, leadership, vendor management and interpersonal skills.


• Experience: Minimum 10 years of hands-on ICT and/or OT engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a role directly integrating IT and OT systems and 3+ years in managing a team of minimum 4 subordinates.
