You’ll play a key role in preparing our portfolio for the evolving EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), turning complex requirements into practical actions with visible business impact.
You’ll work closely with Packaging Development, suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders across Karo, giving you broad international exposure and the opportunity to build deep expertise in one of the most important areas shaping the future of consumer healthcare packaging.
What you’ll be doing
Act as an internal packaging compliance expert, translating PPWR and other relevant EU packaging legislation into clear, actionable business requirements.
Drive the implementation of PPWR requirements across existing and new products, including recyclability, post-consumer recycled content (PCR) and packaging minimisation.
Balance regulatory requirements with commercial considerations including cost, margin, quality and security of supply.
Lead packaging compliance audits and coordinate responses to customer and regulatory authority requests.
Create and maintain technical product files, declarations of conformity and supporting compliance documentation.
Own the accuracy, completeness, traceability and reporting readiness of packaging compliance data.
Monitor Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) data, packaging material composition and substances of concern, supporting reporting and fee optimisation.
Assess and document packaging recyclability in line with applicable legislation, standards and regulatory timelines.
Work closely with suppliers to secure accurate packaging specifications, technical documentation and compliance information.
Collaborate across functions to ensure packaging compliance requirements are understood, prioritised and implemented effectively.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Technology, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related technical field.
At least 2 years of experience working with packaging regulation, sustainability compliance or a closely related area.
Good understanding of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) framework and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes.
Familiarity with packaging materials, manufacturing processes and packaging sustainability principles.
Previous experience as a Packaging Technologist and/or in packaging-related project management is highly valuable.
Strong capability in managing technical documentation, data and systems with a high level of accuracy.
Analytical and detail-oriented mindset with the ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical actions.
Action-oriented and self-driven approach, comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced environment.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and with external suppliers.
Genuine interest in packaging legislation, sustainability and evolving regulatory requirements.
